Hi
I am looking at a new VE Calais V V8, and was wondering whether getting LSD
optioned in is worth it or not.
Any of your thoughts for or against LSD would be greatly appreciated

LSD is great for :burnout: :D I love LSD i'll never go back
If your not performance oriented, i wouldn't worry about it. but if you enjoy a bit of spirited driving, then yes get LSD.
The only other reason id say don't get it from factory, is if your planning on putting a KAAZ or something in in the near future.

Well, nothing's necessary, unless you, the buyer, think it is.
However, with the torque & power of the 6 litre engine, if I was the buyer, it's one of the first options I'd choose. Actually, I'm surprised that it's not standard with this engine.
So yeah, I think it's absolutely necessary.
Cheers, Pickles.

Oh definitely mate.. My mate just bought an open wheeled VR 5.0 litre...
Let me just say that thing lights it up easy and goes absolutely no where.. try and put out of a side road over traffic in the wet in a car that cant put the power down in the dry... 160kW ... versus... 270kW... mate... thats an extra 110kW you're gonna have to tame.. i would think its dangerous not to put the LSD on it mate.

Hmm well let's see.
One wheel drive when I plant it or two wheel drive with LSD ...
Or just believe you have 400 rwkw with LSD and no car ;-)
Dont buy it without or you will be very disappointed.

On the SS and SSV (ie V8 Engines, it is standard). I'm suprised that it is not standard on the Calais.

Id not get the LSD option, save the $$$ and drive from the dealership straight to get a Kazz fitted.... Thats if you wanted the "performance option" :nyuk:

I would definately get the LSD it would be a boring drive without it :yup: You will only regret it if you don't and it will cost you more later to get one fitted. If you have the money I would go for the kaaz they are alot better than the stock center.

I have owned V8s with and without LSD.
I would highly recommend you get this option cause with all that grunt you need it :burnout:

thanks all, was heading towards getting LSD, but youve pushed me over the line!
cheers
I have also owned V8s with and without LSD. Without it can be scary the amount of spin when it should just hook up. Even with LSD on the WL 5.7 it is so easy to get the rear out of shape (traction control is not particularly useful), hate to think what it would be like without it!
LSD should be a bare minimum when owning one of those new V8's.
However if you are after performance.....
Kaaz > STD LSD. That is all.

would much rather LSD. Had both and overtaking on a wet road without LSD and traction control on just a waste of time. Even with the control off struggled to overtake.
Traction control seems to work much better in the wet with the LSD

4 What it costs as an option, just DO IT. Even if only 4 some extra resale.................Ross

Extras don't make much, if any, difference in resale unless you are talking big ticket like leather vs cloth. A $360 LSD won't add anything much but will make it easier to sell vs. those without.
