Is there any difference between 19" rims or 20"'s?
Am thinking of ride, handling, comfort...and anything else?
Test drove a Calais V with the 20" SuperSports, and thought there wasnt but of a difference in ride as apposed to the standard 16" rims on my VT Calais

you would neet to also account for different suspension, not to mention the VE is a much newer car to a VT.
I have 19's on the ute and apart from the ute being the agricultural device it is I find not much difference between the 19's and the standard 17s. road noise is amped up a bit on crap roads and the ute traintracks on occasion depending on road condition.
20's is overkill, 19s is overkill IMO, I will be going down to 18s when got good suspension in.

The VEs are pretty good with 20s. I don't notice much/any diff between mine on 20s and how my VZ on 18s was in terms of comfort but apparently 20s on earlier models can be very harsh.

The main difference is the price of tyres I bought a new SS-V and got the 19in rims on it thinking that the tyres would be cheaper but at $591 they aren't and they don't last that long (also Bridgestone are the only one to have the tyres that are rated for the VE commodore) if I had bought the 20in rims it would have cost me more upfront however i can get good tyres that are capable of keeping the car on the road for around $300 and over a couple of years it would be saving me money.

Choppa says ... harden the fcuk up mmjlw :teach:
Ride quality is slightly stiffer going from 19's to 20's, if your mainly on good roads, you would probably not even notice it. This is due to a stiffer side wall on the 20's, therefore transfering more road imperfections to your car.
If you can't afford to buy good quality tyres for your car, then don't buy the car!
20's rock ! :lmao:

Especially if you are talking "width" not length .....
But seriously .... like has already been said, if you can not afford the tyres, dont buy the car!
I've got 20inch Supersports on My Adventra, 19inch VX GTS on My Monaro & 19inch VZ Senators on My VT & the ride quality is the same in the 20's as it is in the 19's My 20inch tyres are Kumho KU31's & 19's are Falken st115

I got 20" rims with 35 series tyres and geez cant wait to go back to the 18"s ..Cant complain on normally funded roads so if you live in a well funded area why not.. My main problem is as mentioned earlier hit a pothole or go on a cruise out the mountains on dodgy roads and you will wish you never got them..
In a nutshell 80% of the time I love em but the rest of the time im cursing them..

Probably true too! Fortunately 99.5% of my driving is on very good roads.

yikes, let it go!
i hated the ride of 20s, and tyre selection is an issue, with load ratings, right widths, rolling diameter etc, can be a pain.
now have 19s and havent looked back, much better wheel imho, for all the reasons i didnt like the 20s.
VE series cars run 40profile on 20s, and the VT/Z use 40profile on 18s! When i get a VE onwards car ill probably head back to 20s.

Due to the quality of Sydney roads I have been to scared to go from 18s to 19s on my Monaro, despite the fact that extra inch really makes the car look better. I just think that extra little bit less tyre on the 19s might drive me nuts with firm suspension. I am surprised to see so many jumping on the 20s with the VT-VZ series cars for ride quality issues alone. The VE suspension is a whole different ball game and 20s seem to be no issue for the new cars.

My VX is sitting on some 19's and I agree that 20's would be a rough ride. Apart from how great the 20's may look I would hate to think what they would be like hitting a bump cause the 19's are bad enough.

well it really depends on what profile you end up getting on those rims but with 20's its very well known that the ride is very firm and bumpy and that also depends on the suspension of the car so there is a few things to take into consideration
