polishing inlet manifold cover on v6

Can anyone recommend a way to polish the inlet manifold cover?

Is it as simple as gettin the autosol out or do I need to get one of those polishing kits which go on the end of the drill?

I used some fine wet/dry paper on it first to get rid of the real rough bits, then i cut a piece of towel up and put it on the orbital sander. home made buffer!! used autosol with that, then by hand. I might have used a green scourer pad at some point as well.
