yeh I dunno
the steering wheel lock is a bit odd only because its stored inside?
Then again it is definately in top notch condition, so either someones telling the truth or someones spent alot of time and money and effort getting it to that stage

Have those "car bubble" things been around for the last 20 years?
It would be a shame to drive it after having it sit still for 20 years.

is this the car that sold at shannons about 18 months ago ? They also auctioned a VK group A at the same time with similar mileage . From memory they both sold for something around $60k ~ at the time.

Looks like the polariser sticker is a new addition as he got it not that long ago.

Mmm sweet ride!.. Ive always had a soft spot for the VL Group A. Classic modern aussie muscle and a tribute to the great man!
I guess any car is only worth as much as someone is willing to pay, but $500k?.. It would be a very very brave person who would pay anywhere near that and expect to recoup their money.
Hopefully commonsense prevails, but given the silly prices old Falcons have been getting lately, anything is possible.

That car was auctioned at the 2004 Sydney motor show.
The VL sold for $55,000 and the VK went for $57,500.

Nice pickup :)
Yeah, something about this just doesn't sit right.
Surely you wouldn't whack a sticker on it if didn't come with one from the factory (even if it was entitled to it but missed out). Almost like he was sucked in by someone elses ebay ad.
The build number does match a Suttons Chullora delivery - but a google search will reveal that.
Interesting.
Would be a lovely vehicle to own and we'll wish we'd all bought it for less than $150,000 in a few years time.
Having been at the Holden car show at Silverwater today, yes, a concourse condition stock car from yesteryear commands a hell of a lot more respect than any modern day beast.
There were some pearlers. Like the unrestored, but near-new condition lime green L34.
He's turned down cash offers of $120,000.
Its a good market at the moment.
Getting back on track though, the VL Group A for the amount of kms seems like a good buy, but something just seems wrong.
I wonder if HDT/Holden could verify for a potential bidder

I don't think so--I think you'll find that it was recently purchased from the estate of Trevor Young, the owner of the Biante co. Probably the best there is -a SENSATIONAL car.
Cheers Pickles.

Well a new record looks to be set here if the sale goes through. I've heard about this car before and seen pics of it. From what I know it is all genuine and would be a great buy.

Like I said it was sold at that Auction in 2004. Where did Trevor Young get it from?

Like I said, that was a different car-I've no idea where Trevor got it from, but I do know the current owner.
Cheers, Pickles.

I looked up the Shannons catalogue from the Auction. It says:
'HISTORY
An amazing collector’s piece ideal for the Brock fan, this 1986 VL SS Group A is Build Number 070 of 500 produced. Delivered by Suttons Motors in January 1987, and still with only 38 delivery kilometres on the clock, this unique vehicle has never been road registered. It has been kept stored from new and is still fitted with the controversial atomic polarizer. In time-warp condition, with all tools still in their original packaging and both the interior and exterior literally as new, it is as if someone just drove this car home yesterday (and not almost two decades ago). Sold unregistered, the vehicle comes with all original documentation, including a VL handbook, specification sheets, V.I.P. build certificate from HDT and correspondence from the dealership and HDT.'
... fitted with the controversial atomic polarizer
:lmao: now that sounds more like something that would actually have done something
