With all the Muscle cars going up in value I was wondering
what peoples opinions were on the SV5000? Will this vehicle
eventually increase in value? Wasn't it made in a limited
number, I thought somewhere around the 200 mark?
What do you think?

I dunno whether it will or not, but it was a very horn looking car back then (especially the HSV racing green) and they still look good today.

Could you possibly be looking to purchase one atm????

Cheers,

Macca

Hey macca,
Yes, have been considering it for a while, just not sure if
it is worthwhile.

I thought the SV5000 only came in the dark green, i could be wrong, but thats the impression i was under, and then there was the SV3800 that came in the metallic blue and maroon with colour coded Walkinshaw rims.

They are a rare car, and coupled with the SV89 are highly saught after by some people, as for appreciating in value, i cant see it happening for a long time yet

Nah, have seen a white one a few years back at Glendon Motors
in Nowra. Rose Grey appears to be another colour it came in,
not sure of any other colours though :)

Had a rose grey SV5000 years ago was a great car with low kms in mint condition 1 owner with build certificate was a idiot for selling it.
The later build ones had climate control, i think they made about 60 in rose grey 300 in green.
A great car if ya can find 1 in good nic.

Are they S/C 3.8's? They go quite well for their age, although my SS still shits all over it. I admire his tenacity...

Hi I have a SV5000 in rose grey with 61km's on the clock. It spent it's first 12 years over seas in Malaysia. Bill lee use to fly over & service it, then it was flown back to Australia for the body guard to drive the prince around while he was studying here in Perth. It also has the howe leather and sunroof upgrade. I'm very happy with it. Cheers Steve

SV3800's are just a "chipped" normally aspirated V6 with improved exhaust from what I can remember, similar specs to the HSV plus 6 which was like an executive in SS clothing. Output was around the 140kw mark I think.

Hey Rod, I knew a bloke about 12 months back selling his Green SV5000. Was near mint condition with a little paint fade on the rear spoiler etc, but otherwise clean. He was asking $15,000 odd at the time, but I think fuel prices reduced interest. I loved this model when I was a a young bloke and remember buying Wheels when they did a comparo between it and 5 series BMW over on German soil in 1989. Most powerful VN until the Group A with 200kW. The SV5000 has the best stock heads Holden ever put on a 304 and teamed with the Twin throttle body setup from the VN Group A, would return good figures. Awesome interior trim for the time and good looking body kit too.
These are similar reasons I convinced my nephew to buy a SV89, but his is looking a little worse for wear living next to the beach and not really fastidious about looking after his car...much to my disgust :vpo:. I may have to take it off him.

Ahem 215kw, but close..I thought the only one to get better cyl heads was the Group A?
I remember seeing one of these brand new cruising around town, very nice looking car, and one that green looks good on.
cheers

Yes Group A with 215, SV5000 with 200. SV5000 had larger valves than standard, but found it's limitation with the restrictive standard inlet manifold.
You will find that later HSV's such as VP Senator and Clubsport only had 180kW, then VR -VS 185.
It was the torque of these engines and at the RPM that made them such a joy to drive and lose the tail in.

Yep, 142kw, HSV spec chip, leather volour trim, full electrics and LSD. HM Tuned length headers and a 2.5inch 'Big Bore' (as they called it) exhaust, they are quick for what they are, and will scare some people who think its just a crappy VN, still miss mine

I always loved the SV5000 in SV racing green. Very classy looking ride.

Im no expert on used values by any stretch but I wouldnt bet on them
ever appreciating a great amount in the near future. If you look at the models that are really going up pretty much all have a racing heritage ie. homologation specials. The VN Group A sure, and we all know the Walky is going towards silly prices too.

Too many people are buying cars as an investment these days. Sure who
wouldnt like to make a slab of cash but really, why not just buy it cause
you love driving it.

Good luck in your search!
