not sure if its just NSW.

read they are bringing in active random testing for DB's. Also will be part of the rego inspection to be tested.

Sounds like exhaust shops will be busy going forward putting cars back to std.

fine $150, any further breaches up to $33,000 fine. if your thinking about putting it back on after the test, don't get caught again.

Goodness me, $33,000 fine. Imagine that, not paying the fine and getting locked up for a loud exhaust.

Evening,

How about they take to the HARLEY DAVIDSON fellas first??:flipoff:

I am sure that there are plenty of members who own or know Harley folk, what gives in relation to the noise limits on them?

I had my thing tested as per the Vic rules recently for my own info and it went 106DB'S!!!

That is with HM Tri Y's, full cat back 2.5 twin, and 2 front and 1 rear muffler.

Love some feedback please?

Cheers,

Hogs,:)

id be one of them cause i wouldnt pay a cent. it amazes me what scumbags get away with everyday, people that visciously wound other people with a weapon etc etc or even kill somebody and get off with less. 33k for an exhaust

F*CKING WANKERS! unbelievable

was also on the weekend news, a big segment.

The state minister confirmed they weren't targeting loud stereos though.

They were also saying they're thinking of putting db meter testers in petrol stations. Not sure why though.
Whether its to enable petrol stations to identify targets, or make it part of the yearly piinkslip test.
These are just my theories as to why they'd do it.

They have been threatening this for years with motorkibes. They have even setup "random breath testing/licence check" on Saturday morning to catch all bikes, and then pass each bike off to the EPA for a noise test. Any failures, you get a defect sticker. They catch heaps each time they do this.

Bikes used to have to have a sticker with the exhaust model and sound level on the bike. If this sticker was missing, or didn't match the serial number/model of the exhaust, you were issued with a fine. Commonly refered to as the "sticker tax". This has now been aboloshed on bikes after much public pressure as it was impossible to get a sticker for any replacement exhausts.

It'll be interesting to watch this one.

How about focusing on drink/drug drivers instead of giving them a slap, 3 months suspension and a $400 fine??? Make the fine $10,000 I bet noone would even considering drinking and driving.

Things like this i take with a pinch of salt!

All my life i've driven shit boxes because of other priorities like the mortgage, raising my children and sooooo much more that i can't be fugged to list.

Then in June 04 my wife says "hunny you've been a good boy,why not buy yourself a new car" which i promptly did....i know when i've been told :p

First mod was to get an exhuast system and now i can't have a V8 sound like a V8

I'll wait and see how this one unfolds before i get bitter and twisted!

Apparently they will be opening a couple more testing stations here in Sydney.

Thus, somebody will have to pay for these set-ups an the enthusiasts will be the ones.

Its only fair, is it not?:flipoff:

um...can I borrow your wife....?:1peek:

How many DB are you allowed to have? Are they gonna do the test on Taxi brakes too? How about trucks? I read somewhere that a baby crying produces as much DB as a jet engine...any fines for that in the pipeline?
Obviously they think car enthusiasts don't vote.

there could be a way to resolve it.....getting pulled over that is and getting inspected... http://www.xforce.com.au the new cannon muffler has a electric motor which shuts a butterfly to quiten down the loudest of cars, if they bring out a design not so fully sick it would sell big time with people on this forum

I been searching the net looking for the article but I can't find it, though I did read it in 'The Leader' if anyone knows the link can they post it as I know a few other people who would be interested in this.
Apparently you can even narc on people by phoning the Environment Line 131 555. Might be handy when a Pulsar shitbox screams off at the lights thinking 'fully sick I just beat a V8 broz!'
The centres are being set up in Granville and Campbelltown with more to follow, this is in addition to the one at Lidcombe already.
Funny, as I sit here some dude is trying to reverse his VK with milo tin exhausts into his garage, kinda understand where the law is coming from in this instance.
