Hey guys just thought i would show off my brake kit that i am fitting up soon. Basically retaining the same colour but deleting the hsv logo and substituting it with a 'monaro' logo...

Some basic instructions on how i did it...

1. You need some really fine grit sandpaper to lightly "wet" sand 'buff' off the silver hsv logo, making sure your using wet sanding paper .. also make sure you dont press to hard so as to rub any of the red off. Once buffed off clean up...
2. I went to a signwritting place and got them to custom make me some lables. normal stickers will leave the monaro logo on the caliper, but becasue brakes get quite hot this would be useless, so i ordered a reversal (i hope you understand what i mean) so the monaro logo is empty. like a template...
3. Got some VHT Silver brake caliper paint and once i stuck the stickers on the caliper i taped everything else up and began spraying, with many light coats...
4. peel off all stickers prior to drying.
5. And then prioer to drying again cover up the parts you dont want sprayed and spray with a VHT Clear coat caliper spray...
6. let dry, bake etc....

custom made calipers that suit my car!!

cheers

That looks like its straight from the factory, good job.
Its a pity the standard monaro brakes weren't like that :bawl:.

Yeah thanks guys, they look better in real life, really factory like. and shiny!

I will post pics when i fit them, in next month or so.

If anyone wants any more info juat ask me. I also have some spare monaro stickers that i used for the job, if anyone is interested.

I dont think it will work on the harrops as they are actually etched out of the metal?? not sure untill i see it in the flesh..

Otherwise quite easy on the AP racing kits... Looks a treat too. The rears dont have a logo on them though, i just buffed off the hsv lovo and coated it with clear, which still looks mint.

That looks sensational. If only I had the time and patience to remove my calipers and do it but can't see that happening. If my brakes were still 'yet-to-be-fitted' then I would give this a go for sure. Oh well, maybe some time down the track.

My hat off to you though, looks great.

No this does not mean that everyone gets them, i only have a bunch left.., and it did cost a fair bit for the signwriter to set up the image and print... However if many ask i will be happy to get the guy to print more off..
