Just a quick question... Is it safe to start a VE HSV with the rear resonators removed? Will less back pressure damage the engine or make the ECU go nuts?

Cheers,
Elliot

P.S I wanted to hear how the car sounded without them :)

Nah, plenty of people do it. It will sound tougher, but especially if an A6 will probably drone badly enough to drive you nuts as the VEs are bad for drone.

:search: on remove resonators and you should find plenty of reading!

Sry about saying from VE's, but is it as bad on VZ SS?

My dad wants to do a cat back system with like straight through pipe with no rear resi? I know he will get drone being auto but is it as bad as VE?

I dont think it is, no. I had a red back cat back with no rear mufflers and i loved it (although i did have extractors)

Yer extractors would be awsome but he doesn't want to go that far. Its a My06 6.0 Ltr by the way, black with red leather interior. Bloody nice car.

Yer he just wants to get 2.5" straight pipe with no rear resi and then 3" twin tips.

Where should we get it done?

My mate got his exhaust done on his SSV at some place in Midland perth?

What other good places are in perth for holden exhausts? AND what price coud we be lookin at?

Sorry do dig this thread back up again, but i have another question... Is it safe to drive the car around with the exhaust finishing at the join where the rear muffler would be connected? I am a little worried about the heat being disbursed and melting something.

I would be more worried about the fumes getting into the car. I doubt the heat would be an issue..
