Hi there
I have a Nickel Metallic VE Calais -V with Onyx leather on order.
Went outside this afternoon in 34c downtown Sydney and wondered how hot will the interior of my Calais be with Onyx leather ?
Any of you guys with that interior trim have any comments ??
Does the perforated leather seats help in keeping you cool and/or sticking to the seats on hot days ??
Appreciate your comments
cheers

My Z had black leather, and the interior of the car got f'n hot.. The worst thing about leather is it really holds in the heat.. Id have the A/C blasting, but the seat, both on my ass and back would still be hot as all hell..
Thats why i opted for cloth..!!

I had full red leather in my VY ss and black with red insert leather in my current SSV.
Never had an issue with seats being too hot to sit on. Both my cars had tinted windows added which does help keep the heat out.

Yeah I have a black SS-V (red and black leather + metallic tint) and have not had a problem with hot seats as yet.:dance:
Mind you today is the first hot day in Sydney (34 C) since I have had the car (August) so we will find out when I jump in the car shortly !!! :flame::flame::shock:

Had my CV8 Z for over a year now and the leather seats were scorching in the QLD hot sun. My daughter refused to get into the car if it has been parked in the hot sun!!!! Got the car tinted and the problem is almost solved excepted for when the car is parked with the front windscreen facing the sun so I park the car with the rear window facing the sun, when possible.
Hope that helps.

Thanks guys for your help.
Looks like window tint might be the go if the "heated" leather seats are too much.
I live in Sydney. If I was to go with some extra tinting can you guys recommend a reputable window tint company ??
Many thanks for taking the time to reply.
By the way..."youngstar" how was the car when you got in ??
Man it was hot in Sydney today.....and summer is 2 months away !!!
cheers

Maybe you could just get something to cover the seats while the car is parked? Mine have been okay so far but I didn't get the car until late Feb so the worst of summer was already over by then. They're cold on a Canberra winter morning, though.

Are the calais seats half leather/half suede? Because suede doesn't burn half as much as normal leather, thats from personal experience in a VE HSV.

That's a damm good question. It says "leather trim seats" under seating.
I'm not sure what that means and I can't remember the seats very well from my test drive.
I was concentrating on other things. Are they all leather ??
Marco, you are probably right. Getting an old towel to throw over the seats if you are parked in the sun during summer might well be the simplest solution if the leather bugs me too much.
cheers
I haven't had a problem with the seats any more than the old VT 's' seats..
They may be a little warm, but I was only thinking yesterday about how they are not as bad as I thought they would be.. I honestly thought they would be way hotter and that I would sweat more in them.. I actually prefer them to cloth..
(this is my first car with leather)

Calais Vs are full leather I am pretty sure correct me if I am wrong. As for leather it gets damn hot specially for kids, I miss leather for the fact it cleans easily but I prefer cloth as it is not cold in winter and scalding in summer :)

same here but will always have leather, vxss black,cv8 black and currently vzss blue.the black leather cars alot hotter than blue, the cv8 being the hotest of the three.vx and cv8 after market tint vz factory tint, darker colours hold more heat and longer than lighter colours wich reflect the heat.

I've had 2 cars with leather now and never had a problem. Of course the fact I live in Melbourne probably helps! Plus rarely have to get in the car in the middle of the day when it's not been parked undercover. :)

Hi,
I've got a Calais V in evoke with the onyx leather and a sunroof.
I cant say that leather gets to hot, but i do have a pretty dark tint on the windows to keep a lot of the sun out

Bagman,
Seats were fine last night. Inside the car was friggin hot (a furnace in fact:flame:) when I got in but didn't have any problem with burns from the seats.
Did have long pants on though so don't know how it would have been with shorts !

I have a black SSV and black leather interior (got any blacker????) with tints and a sunroof... It gets a little stuffy but once the roof is open for a couple of sec's and a bit of air con, it's fine... I haven't had that "holy crap that's hot, can't touch the seatbelts or seats" feeling like I've had in other cars...
