I lost mine for 6 months and I coped by becoming obsessed with cycling. I got me an $8,000 road bike and went everywhere with it in a similar time it would take a car. When I got my licence back, it was a non-event.
However, my bike has been collecting dust for a long time now. Much less tiring taking the Caprice everywhere now.

Sh!t man, take it easy! Don't do anything that will end up with you wrapped around a pole or without a license for another 3 years.
I'd hate to think what you pay for car insurance........ (That's if anyone would insure you at all with a driving record like that)
BTW: On what grounds did you get banned for three years? (I can't even imagine what would warrant such a huge ban)

I'm not being mean but it would probably be driving in a manner that would seriously indanger his own and other peoples lives

Ive managed to clock up over 100 driving offences in the 15 years ive been on the road. This one was for driving while diqualified twice in a row
The magistrates dont like it when you dont do what they say.
He actually gave me 6 months jail but luckily my solicitor managed to convince hin to suspend this over 18 months.
Scary sh!t

Whatever you do on the day you get it back, and every day after, LEARN FROM THIS. It sounds like you intend to.
Whatever the story is, if you lose it a third time, you don't deserve a license again. A license is a privilige, not a right.
All the best...

Bloke, it sounds like the marriage and a daughter have put things in perspective for you.
Don't mess up again for their sake.
cheers

ah 3 years!!
ive lost mine for 9mnths for reckless and that was horrible enough!! was a good chance to save money and mod the car.
in the 2 years since ive had my license back ive had 1 speeding fine, which was only 5kms over or something.
i sure learnt!
Good Luck with it!!

Don't be like the guy on the news tonight. Released on Monday from jail after serving time for DUI. Caught today drunk behind the wheel again. Looks like he has another all expenses paid holiday coming up.
