I didnt do the usual months of research , didnt have time , hopefully i picked the right specs, any other captiva owners feedback on here ?
should be in by the end of this month - MY08
it was funny at the dealerships i went to , no-one wanted to give me a final price until i was ready to order ... credit card they kept insisting.
anyway one dealer that i squeazed , and squeezed , he kept moaning and moaning at the price , and when he finally came to the party i rang the original dealership from his office to see if they could beat that price , he said - " thats just a slap in the face, doing that " haha !
but he came down the extra $300 dollars to match it ..
oh well you want my business ?
anyway so the LX turbo diesel it is , in mercury silver!
-2.0l common rail diesel from vm motori.
-leather interior
- roof mounted DVD
- sidesteps
- reverse sensors
- floor mats
- mudflaps
- slimline weather shields
full tank of juice on delivery ,
and lifetime hand wash and vacuum at the stealership.
all on road costs - drive away.
my price $44,500 ( aus dollars)
originally when i asked for all that, they wanted ($49,850)
so i think i did ok
i would really like to do a deal with some 20" rims , instead of the 18's from the factory , but we will see.
concept with 20's

Congrats on your purchase mate, my friend just bought a Astra SRI Turbo and she was tellin me how a couple of the dealers she went to were stuffing her around so she went to the first dealer she saw originally got the best deal.

Nice purchase. Interesting to see how many people are going for the TD version of these, seems to be a pretty popular choice.

Dealers often don't want to give you their "best" price, because they just know most people will simply go to the next dealer, tell them what the other dealer offered, they then undercut it slightly, and get the deal!

haha , yeah ! but learnt their tricks , you need to walk into every dealership with your credit card in your hand .. "I'm ready to do a deal ! " , what are they going to force me to buy in the end ?

I had one for a day whilst my car was getting serviced. Not a bad family trucksta, especially with a 7 seat option.. There is a captiva thread around the forums somewhere.. And they do look good with the big wheels.

My girlfriend wants a Captiva. I wish she would just do as she's told and get the Prado or a Navara dual cab though as I need something that'll tow a shitload. She reckons the ute is no chance, but i live in hope... :)
Captiva does look great though !!

I tow a tandem scaffold trailer daily for work and it rides ,handles, and pulls excellent. Does the heavy tow alot better than both my previous new ford utes which says alot. They are geared very eager down low which helps get the trailer of the line and moving with ease. So far have towed for about 20000 of the 24000 kays i've travelled and averaged around 14ltrs when in tow and down to 10 without mixed city/highway.

Im gonna cop flack over this but you guys know Im gonna say it ...
go the Adventra all the way
We parked our steroid wagon next to a Captiva last week and there funny to compare, the length for one :vpo:
Still, you wont fit a double bed mattress in the rear of a Captiva!!
Anyway congrats on the purchase, Im curious to see how they tow too.

Adventurers are great too but who needs a mattress when the bonnets so warm for :1peek:. They dont chew tyres like commodores on the rears . All mine have worn even so far and have around 65% left. Would be good to have another foot of length when the seven seats are up though.

What is the maximum towing capacity for a Captiva ?

dont have any experiance on them but just last week seen one towing a boat with twin axles on the trailer, impressive I must say,but looks & fuel economy must win over a territory. dude at work drove his father inlaws territory back from melb airport to traralgon, fuel economy was 16.5. 4 adults 2 bags. he went up in his golf geta same pay load 6.2 ave fuel. like to know what the captive could do in that comparison

Sometimes Davo. Im in sales and alot of people appreciate 1st time best deals. They go to another place to check the price and still come back to me even when the other guy is cheaper. I believe 1st impressions is the best give the best price at the start and people appreciate it.
I was actually gonna buy the LX Captiva but changed my mind after I sat in the SSV. lol. Christ big mistake now Im addicted to v8s.

Definitely agree cholo, I wouldn't swap my dealer now.
I'd definitely recommend Kelly Holden Cardiff in Newcastle, they are the best for change-over price and after sales service. The sales team are the best I have experienced at ANY dealership.
They gave me the best change-over price first up when I was 18 years old on my first brand new car, I then shoppped other dealers and went back to them.
I tested them a couple of times since and sure enough, I get the best change-over price from them every time, so I don't even bother going to other dealers now.

With that load mine would stay in the 10's no more. If it were windy then it'd go up into the 11's. When towing the wind kills economy and adds at least 2ltrs /100. Now i'm starting to get 375 kays to a tank towing and when not in tow trim around town i'm getting down into the flat 10's , giving it boot fulls on take off's.

the 2.0l turbo diesel is quiet and amazing pull, and the gearbox meshes together like liquid , barely audible diesel noise lets you know you are saving, very smooth

Interior feels "drum tight" , nice leather , satin accents and nicely designed , good on ya mike !

I like the headlights on the concept, just noticed the tail lights are different too, wouldn't mind doing a swap on my Captiva. Can't wait til I own it and warranty is done, see what can be done mod wise and how it responds...........:D

From memory the only stops were for a set of traffic lights at the airport exit and another stop on the eastern end of Pakenham.
cheers.
ps. why do people compare diesel economy with a petrol only version?
pps. except for you Captivalx as I think you have a v6 petrol(?)

The Captiva's or Winstorm in Korea get the same tail light treatment as the ones on the concept car, so ya maybe able to get some from a GM dealer overseas or something. Just a thought.

It realy depends on driving style alot, ie when tail gating your always slowing and excellerating constantly instead of cruising which 90% of drivers do on the freeways these days, as my dad used to get 10-11 city in his terri ghia and why l think my economy is so good also. I never tail gate and still take off reasonably quick and still return great figures. Went away camping last week and with a fully loaded camping trailer cruising between 100-110 my trip meter was at 10-10.5 whichis almost unthinkable imo. Was expecting 12's at best. 351 Yes mine is the petrol version and coming up to 30,000 and always run on premium. Even betters the wifes new 4cyl liberty by 1-2 ltrs per hundred.:smilesandbanana:

sorry for being o/t, gotta say, I have a MY07 T5 Transporter which has a tare of 1900kg and I am averaging 9.2L/100km (65/35 city/country) after 12,000km since July which is not bad for an auto that can have upto 1 tonne on board and tow a tandem caged trailer that is also 750kg empty, so gmv can be upto 4800kg...I do love a diesel having come from lpg.

Thats pretty damn good for a van actually.
What is it like to drive though ? I heard they are really good and they are better than the Mercedes benz Van's (excluding the M100 series). :)

I absolutely love driving it, A6, captain drivers seats, esp, t/c, abs, 6 airbags, alloys, reverse park sensors, mp3 player...and on & on...and when you fill it up after a country run you actually might see a dte of 1000km on the trip comp.:)

Are these rims correctly load rated for the Captiva? I went to Bob Jane to try and find some rims and all they had that was correctly load rated for an SUV were the Speedy rims, which I didn't like. The guy is trying to source other rims and will hopefully get back to me next week.

I just got a Maxx MY08, BLACK!
front and rear sensors
Tint Formula 1 (Tint-A-Car)
2ton Tow Kit
Drives GREAT... I love the high ride it gives...
Tomorrow I am off to Mundaring to try some off road driving with some guys who have hilux's... will be interesting to see what my driving style and the limitations off road of the new cappie are like.... I am told the cappie is actually very good off road!! Cool will let you know.
Looks Sweet As... 500Kms on the clock now...
only two issues...
1) Rear Drivers door is screwed... does not unlock/open... well works 10% of the time - they cant seem to fix it :(
2) the rotten egg smell... told its the solder on the heater coil - never heard of that but hey I am also not very car minded...

Anyone know or have experience on how the Captiva's tow?
Hi Haggy, I have a Diesel Captiva and tow a jayco Expanda about 1600kg when packed up. It tows the vechicle a hell of a lot better than the VY and VZ that I had. She pulls up hill quite well but does have to work a bit on a steep long incline. I average high 12's to low 13's in fuel economy where as the commodore average high 13's to 15's. The cappy doesnt mined having something on the back and with the weight of the cappy, it keeps a smooth ride.
