Watched the Bathurst telecast, & quite enjoyed it--but I did get sooooo tired of listening to the driver comments, talking about Bathurst, & replayed OVER & OVER again------can't believe this place,...My dad & I used to watch it......nothing like this overseas........overseas drivers don't believe this place..... Bathurst is special....this place is almost holy......etc etc etc. How many times did they play these comments?!!
Anyway, I timed the advertising during the race this year--the race lasted six and a half hours, during which there was exactly two hours & ten minutes advertising, equating to exactly one third of the telecast----isn't this over the limit?!
Cheers, Pickles.

I was the only Holden supporter at the Bathurst party that I went to, so I was more concerned for my wellbeing than the advertising.
I didn't drink enough to drown my sorrows and we didn't win enough to make it worth drinking anymore.

I wasn't "wow'd" with the telecast.
over 100 cameras and IMO they chopped and changed between them so often it was somewhat difficult to follow who was doing what.

the main thing that pissed me off was the repetition of the same commercials every add break.. Shell Helix, Fujitsu a/c, the Navy, and tyrepower all day.. so so frustrating.

At least if you're a fat jap forklift driver you'll know which truck you need to buy.....and anybody with a gogomobile will know what to do come Monday Morning, after they stop at KFC .

I may be wrong however I thought the regs were 11 minutes of adds per hour and have heard upto 15 mins/hr....great money spinner for the TV stations it would seem.

Extra minute of TV ad time granted for election

Television networks have been given the go ahead to include an extra minute an hour of advertising devoted to political campaigning during election periods.

The Australian Communications and Media Authority has granted the exemption after lobbying from industry body Free TV.

The extra minute will apply between 6pm and midnight during election periods and will mean that networks can show up to 16 minutes of ads in a single hour, as opposed to the normal limit of 15.

The election is predicted to be called anytime now, and spending by political parties is expected to rocket.

Note that the additional minute is for "election" advertising.

I thought the telecast for the shootout and the race proper was probably the best I have ever seen.....but the ads were ridiculous. Crucial stages they would cut to the ads save for the last 6 laps. Way too long..but I guess its all about the $$$$$

yer i watched most of the telecast round the weekend. That matty guy (the cometator), is it just mye impression that he may not know a lot about the actual sport or the cars cause he always stuffs up or just lets crompo do it haha

I got sick of the same adds every break and their were alot of breaks.

The adds were always the same, Navy, KFC, supercheap (bigger than Dolly partons T-shirt :flipoff:), Pure blonde, oil products and shannons insurance. :vpo:

I'd rather seeing the oil ads etc, because at least they are somewhat relevant to motorsport...
KFC, NAVY etc has sh!tloads of F/A to do with motorsport, same with alcohol really - especially when drinking and driving is illegal...

But will Edmond ever know if that kid's dad really played for Collingwood?

Think there was a few ads in the grand final too... stopped watching at half time so can't remember, I suppose with a comparison like that though, it should be said that Holden didn't go down by over 100 laps:)

KFC supply the chicken so the Jim Beam girls have the right curves, a bit like the Navy has been doing lately.

3 Sponsors in the one sentance, pretty obvious I thought, what were you thinking?:woohoo:

damn you're good, and all this time i thought KFC made the girls fat, and for those bulimic girls who can't bring themselves to shoving their fingers down their throats, they could just drink jim beam til theyre wasted and vomit at will so the semen from the navy would find them more appealing?

lol, they say it on the ad!!!

Albeit a slightly different context but even so, some young bloke on the ad mentions how great it is to be a semen. :dunno:

The 7 coverage was appalling. Every time they would cut to about a 6 min add break it’d come back and something major would have happened and they would spend the next 10 mins talking about it.
It really pissed me off!

****n skaife!!!!! grrrr :bash:

I really didn’t think this race was as atmospheric or interesting as previous races. V8's has kind of lost its appeal (to me anyway). The sport needs to move back to how it was in early 2000, more about go fast bits and technology, and trying to get the upper hand only to have the stewards penalise you with additional weight in your car to slow you down! :1peek:

what did you guys make of mitsubishi fuso sponsoring the V8s  especially having a mitsi logo on the back of a holden... i thought that to be pretty weird..

You gunna devote any time to pondering the Caterpillar Ford ?

Caterpillar is Ford, they run a warehouse in Melbourne which looks after other Ford owned manufacturers :1peek:

I thought the telecast was ok. I liked the idea of the green light which told you which driver was in the car on the ticker down the bottom of the screen.

Hey at least we werent bombarded with the Mountain of Moments ad! When we went to Oran Park all we had was Bathurst ad then Navy ad then Bathurst again all bloody day, in case we didnt know Bathurst was on :eyes:

I thought the race on saturday with the Evo and the Holden leading the pack was better than the Supercar race....although it was a bit short...could have been longer...

but like what was said before everytime an ad happened something big happened and we'd all have to miss part of the race to see the replay!!!...

poor effort!

loved em at Oran Park too!

I have a video on my phone of the 98 Clubby coming around the final turn at almost 5pm, so its really dark ... all you see is his high beam and foggies light up in front of the camera and hear the LS2 thunder away

I taped the whole telecast on my Pioneer hard drive video recorder. I watched it in chase play (watch while taping) and fast forwarded through the ads. Foxtel will probably have 3-4 hours of highlights in the next 2 weeks.

I generally use chase play for movies on commercial television to.
