View Full Version : Dud VE Interior choices!

Im slowly going through the motions of working out whether I actually want to step into a VE early next year, or into another ol' reliable VZ :eyes:

I can't believe how few interior options there are for the VE's!!!! I don't like leather so the only choice of "sporty" cars I have is a $43K SS or a $63K R8. Thats a $20,000 difference and would be a hell of a lot of mods

The colour choices are fantastic too

Heron White - Black cloth
Redhot - Red cloth
Ignition - Ignition cloth
Phantom - Red cloth
Nickel - Black cloth
Morpheous - Black cloth
Atomic - Black cloth
Crunch - Black cloth
K-Pow - Black cloth

Or I can get an R8 with.... black cloth :lmao:

What happened to the range of interiors in previous models like VT, VX, VY, VZ? Hell, even VZ SV8s had a choice of black, red or blue cloth interiors.

Bit boring don't you reckon? There's some great exterior colours now but the interiors leave a lot to be desired imho.

i though the choice of interiors werent that bad especially in the higher models expect the R8 cause that cloth is shithouse.

Why dont you like leather sport seats? IMHO i reckon the're fantastic.

Just never liked the idea of cheap leather car interiors. That combined with living in QLD, kids, etc etc means that Ive always preferred cloth.

Having it re-trimmed is out of the question?

I have to admit, the whole black on black seemed a bit dark for me when i 1st picked up my ss, but after a week i didnt take much notice. Now i couldnt care less, the drive and the handling is what makes me smile everytime i get in the car.
I have seen a few awsome re-trims for the $3-4000k mark on a few mates commodores (vt-vz) and considering that its a 'legal' mod as opposed to certain engine mods, thats not a bad price for a complete new and original feel.

I'd even take Urban as an option! The only way that would happen would be to buy a calais and put an SS body kit on it :(

I couldn't bring myself to do a full re-trim on a brand new car though. Would feel like such a waste :werd:

Edit - Actually just looked that up and the only way to get Urban would be a Calais V and thats with the leather seats anyway

But if you went for the R8 it would be worth doing the full re-trim.
I have to agree the cloth in the R8 is crap. Not worthy of a $60,000+ car
If we had the choice would have gone leather for sure.

But even with the older vx-xz car you even had a choice of colours of
leather. Red, Blue, Black, Hyper.

There's no denying that Holden do a poor job of offering customers choice. Forget the interior though, how about giving customers choice between two or three diff ratios? Or making a close ratio transmission optional? Holden suck in this area.

what about selling your entire interior to someone who wants to retrofit it to an old car and getting a set custom done for yourself. that would help incure some of the cost. or probably easier just sell the leather off the seats to someone with the stock cloth interior who wants leather, then you have your seats ready to be trimmed in whatever colour and style you want. ide imagine doing it that way you could almost get enough selling the leather covers to cover the price of the cloth retrim. just a thought.

I bought my VX2 R8 new & only had the choice of 1 colour cloth material which was anthricite or I could opt to go leather, my VX SS was the same deal, silver car with anthricite interior, I am pretty sure that the outside of the car determined what colour the interior was on the VX SS models, not sure on the others.

I do agree though, if the car has to be built you should be able to pick from a list of different interior styles/patterns etc. I dare say it would be just to keep costs down & not having a heap of left over stuff that did not sell laying around collectting dust & losing money.

Go the SS & with the cash you save spend a few grand & get it retrimmed to how you like it. There are some pretty good deals to be had on the VE range lately & it will only get better the closer to the end of the year it gets.

Good luck with it all

Are you serious? do you expect ANY car company to offer those sorts of options? It's horrendously expensive and time consuming to the company, and for maybe 200 customers a year, it would be insane on Holden's behalf.

That's what aftermarket mods are for mate.

What about 98% of the other car manufacturers don't offer more choices?
Its not only Holden that does not offer these options. I've said this before car manufacturers only think what the consumer wants the aftermarket guys do know what the consumer wants.

How many other manufacturers do this? Go and buy a car from most other manufacturers and you would be lucky to have a choice of interior colour as most of them no only give a set interior fixed with the external colour.

Leather

Kids - Stuff they spill just wipes off. Have had leather sine the kids were small and it has been a god send more time than I can tell you. No stains ever.

QLD - I live in qld and the leather is no hotter than the cloth. Air con cools quick enuf and if it bothers you that much get a windscreen protector/reflector thing to reduce incar temps while parked.

I love the smell of leather...... There is nothing better....

Just my two cents.

I'm Curios, have you ever had leather or just shy away because your think these things are problems?

dadem0n,

If you're not happy with the VE interior colour choices ... why not just do what you did with your wallet?

Grab some rolls of cloth/100mph tape and go nuts ... VOILA ... interior colour of your choice & it'll be waterproof to boot. :D

What about just buying some nice seat covers?

I'm exactly the same, hate leather!
