Hi All

Im wondering if there have been any back to back exhaust system testing done on a completely stock LS2.

I am interested in upgrading my standard exhaust system on my VZ Clubby, and initially I was looking to get a twin 3" system, but after having done some research, I get a lot of mixed opinions on it.

A lot of people say that its the best system for the LS2, especially when coupled with 1 3/4 4 into 1 extractors. Others believe that the twin 3" is too big for a standard car and the optimum size is still the dual 2.5" system.

I have done search after search and on several different forums to no end. If anyone has dyno graphs of the different systems with different extractors, that would be great. If not, the next best thing is personal opinion's from those who actually own the systems.

Im also looking for opinions on drone on different brand of systems. Ive been told Di Filippo is the way to go if you want absolutely no drone and X-Force if you dont mind a little bit of drone, so Im also looking for clarification on those points.

Any advice is appreciated. Thanks.

Hi Funky...

Just changed my system on my VE GTS which had 1 3/4 Pacemaker Headers with full KPM 3 inch system to Di Fillipo twin 3 inch with bigger 1 7/8 inch Headers and gained 10rwk......bigger headers seemed to work well and will suit supercharger i'm putting on:rofl:

Twin 3" X force here zero drone with 1 5/8 4 into 1 headers and 3" cats 222/224 cam
sounds arrsom at WOT
sounded good with bolt on mods as well
there wouldn't be much if any power gains over 2.5 but does give a noticeable SOP gain
i swapped mine from a sureflo 3.5 and it was a noticeable gain felt more responsive and willing to rev
no lose of power down low
i went through the same thing and eventually went with twin 3"

Dale from CHE did a back to back some time ago on the LS2 and showed that dual 3" was the way to go. You should be able to find the thread, it was probably in his forum.

Yep, I recall that he had very significant gains with the twin 3" system. I think it was a VZ Maloo that was the test mule.

Cheers,

The next question is are you still planning to put twin turbos on it down the track? You would want an exhaust that works well with that set up as it will save you buying another when the TT's are fitted.

im in the same boat as you funky, even though my car is an LS1, im still deciding on what exhaust is best suited to my car, single 3.5", twin 2.5, twin 3", the combos are endless and i have no idea which way to go, some say youll loose power, others say youll gain power, but at what cost? no low down torque vs. top end power? who knows, cheers...
