Hi all,

Im looking at buying a VS(10/96) clubsport. Auto, red etc etc...99.99999% standard, the only deviation from stock is a new head unit. The car has LOW Kms, Im not sure how low as Im looking at it Saturday. It has been stored for 5 years and rarely driven. The guy is chasing about $20k but as its a mate of my old man, he said I could drive away for $15k. Can you please give me some info as to value, etc etc etc.....

hey Shaun, it would be hard for anyone to even give you a rough idea without knowing how many kms it has.

Hey mate...Thanks, yeah I understand what your saying....BUT, I was hoping to see if this price is in the ballpark and if so what ks would be reasonable for the cost..If ya get my drift...cheers

For a VERY rough idea, have a scout thru carsales etc for one similar, see what they are going for, maybe check redbook, and add a few grand on...
15k sounds good if it is all genuine and has very low k's tho.

My mate just sold his mint condition 97 series 2 manual clubby for $16500. I think it had 190k's on the clock.

In WA cars hold their price more than eastern states.

Being a 96 it is series 1 so resale won't be as good which is something you need to take note of.

Hope this helps

Couple of things to take note of.

Negatives:

- Doesn't have original wheels. They are VR clubsport wheels.
- Has silver highlights which weren't standard either. Was only standard on Senators.

Positves:

Coulson Seats = Very rare option!!!
Overall condition of the car looks good.

Unless it has rediculously low kays like below 50,000 it's probably worth about 12-14k.

I would be more worried about the oxidised front fender and door paint (which looks majenta) versus the glossy red paint on the rear doors and rear quarter panel and the associated missing stickers, incorrect painted lower sill extensions and wrong wheels. All point to the car being in a serious rear end accident at some time.....just my opinion...but what would I know.

Worth about 12k then. Although in WA maybe add 1 or 2 kay to that as cars hold their value a bit more.

Hi,
The car looks in good nick, but why has he got VR Clubsport rims if it's a VS.
The car for it's age is good and your looking at 12-14 as like you said it's pretty much standard.

Try to bargin him down a little more.

Hope it works out for you:)

Hey.
That doesnt look to bad.
As a few others have said, they do hold there value more than they do over east.
What part of Perth are you in? I have just got a VR Senator 215i in very good nic. Done 166,000 ks. Full service history.
If you do get it i wouldnt mind having a look at her.
Im down in the Rockingham area. (10 mins away from the motorplex)

Good luck
pete

I can't see any stickers missing. Old man has a VS Clubsport so yeah it looks all good on that front.

I love the VS Clubbies. Unfortunately not many VS Clubbies have survived without mods. I would be particulalry suspicious about the silver skirt highlights and the VR rims. I suggest you keep looking for a mint example, but as a daily driver this one would suffice if all the numbers match.

Jake,

no thats normal. Some earlier models actually had a plate rivited on top of the Holden logo but certainly not the VS's

gday mate,

I had a late 96 VSII Senator done 63000k and i sold it for $18k THREE years ago. Seriously for that car with those k's (if you overlook the fact that it doesnt look original due to the silver highlights, wheels etc) you wouldnt pay more than 9-10k for it. I know that sounds harsh but think about what else you could get for 15-20k. Youre almost in VTII CLubsport land where the k's are lower and you would get the CHev motor...

If you looked around Im sure you could find a vs clubsport in original condition for around the 12k mark.

cheers
