Fella's,

My "Validated" status appears to have dropped off after I was removed from site for inactivity (had a baby and moved interstate and return back to your fav site and your not a member anymore) but my join date etc is still the same?

Could this please be updated...

thanks.

Your account was not "removed" for inactivity or anything else.

Your account was flagged as requiring email activation after the email address you have registered against your profile started bouncing back emails (PM notifications, thread subscriptions etc.). Your account is changed to "Requires email activation" group rather than "Validated Users" group. Once you have updated your email address to whoever your new ISP is, you just need to reactivate the account (Which changes you back to "Registered users" and then email us so we can fix your validated status.

We have had a lot of email bouncebacks recently after some new users have joined up and started posting replies to threads that have been dead for 3+ years. The system tries to email all the users who subscribed to that thread back then, only to find that a lot have changed ISPs and not kept their LS1 profile up to date.

Moral of the story is - "Always ensure your registered email for your LS1 account is kept up to date" :yup:

ok, so i did all that over a month ago now, got it confirmed, but still not validated? prob missing a step here somewhere?

My registered email is a work addy because I only use hotmail at home, so the registered ISP would be there? :)

Yes, your valid ISP email would be your work one. You just missed the step where you needed to notify us via email (http://www.ls1.com.au/forum/sendmessage.php) of your updated ISP email.
I found an email from you from July with a Hotmail one, but that was all I could find.

I have updated your account back to Validated

Maybe you could close threads automatically after a certain time period of no new posts being added. (Say 6 or 12 months.)

What need would there be to post a message in a 3 year old thread anyway?!.

Not wanting to get into a raving sht fight, but i find much use in the older threads. What was valid years ago on my car is still mostly valid now.

I know that amongst the owners here, the VT is not the most popularly owned model, but they still exist, and there is a huge amount of info from the earlier day's of the forums (even if they are harder to find these days).

I try not to post in out of date threads, however if there is something that I find relevant, and posting can assist me or others, then i'll feel free to do so. It may not be relevant to everyone, but hey, as long as it's relevant to some, then that's good enough reason for me to add something helpful.

If threads were closed after 6-12 months of inactivity, then the search function wouldn't be as useful.

Say you have a question, you search and find a thread 2 years old, but similar / relevant to the question you have. As opposed to starting a new thread, its easier to post in the old thread rather than creating a new thread very similar.

Furthermore, no one can tell you to use the search button because you already have ;)
