Just the usual transfer fees and stamp duty. My last couple of cars have gone interstate and they just get re registered, not a problem. You will need a current roadworthy certificate from the state in which you wish to register the car in.The currrent Victorian rego will be suspended.....Cheers John

& Last year I sold My VYII Clubby to a Guy in WA & same thing there I cancelled the Vic rego & He had to get it reregistered in Perth

When I purchased my GTO last year . I flew form Perth to Brisbane to buy it And transferred it into my name in QLD and shipped it back to Perth. I ran around Perth on QLD rego for a few months and then had a WA road worthy done $68 I think and $ 20 for WA plates

Just remember to negotiate the rego refund off the purchase price. The seller will get the rego refunded when they cancel the registration. You cannot transfer rego interstate, you need to re-register the car in the new state and pay 12 mnths rego, stamp duty, and get a roadworthy certificate.

You would have paid stamp duty in Queensland AND again in WA if you did it this way??

I transferred my rego from Melbourne to Sydney recently and you need the following: a blue certificate, a green slip CTP and the rego.

The costs are as follows blue certificate approx $100, Green slip approx $330, rego in NSW $332. You must hand in your old rego plates before they will issue you with NSW ones. Get a receipt from the RTA stating that you handed back the plates, then you can get a refund for the rego (pro rata) from Vic Roads. All pretty straight forward just time consuming.

I have bought 2 cars interstate, both from NSW. Reasonable tranfer costs, I knocked a few grand off the purchase priced to lower duty costs. RWC and rego release to new buyer from seller should be all you need.

Only paid QLD stamp duty. I saved about $3000 off WA Stamp duty.

Mate... you need a roadworthy cert, then book into VicRoads, where you will pay 40 in every 1000 for Transfer fee and another fee for Stamp Duty. You will then need to pay for plates AND the years rego.

My SS cost nearly 1K all up (on a 'claimed' purchase price of 5K)
-760 Rego and Transfer
- Tyre, Brake pedal cover and RWC made up the rest

Is the car new, if so look at a permit to drive it unregistered to your new state, you will have to rego it at the first office as you enter your home state. I did this on my HSV I bought in Adelaide and drove to the NT. Got a bit of police interest on the journey as I had no plates on the car, just carried the permit

we drove it until the nsw reg ran out, (7 months). got a RWC 65 bucks, when transfering from another state you have to make a appointment $33.35, then for us it was tac premium $193, stamp duty $19.30, reg fees $172.80, plate fee $28.40, (we had custom plates ready to fit) stamp duty $264 all up $677.50 plus the RWC & appointment fee, total price $775.85 in our name that was for a 1994 rodeo twincab ute purchase price of $6.500. funny Im looking at a VE malloo in queensland so might have to do it all again, bit of a pain but if you get it for the right price its worth it

Not so. As swinghammer said, you only pay stamp duty once when its transferred to your name the first time.
He already owns the car in his name when it gets to Perth, so only have to pay the new rego fee's etc.
