My little brother is set on buying a GPX250 and has come across one at a local bike joint.
2006 model with 2000km.
Black with green graphic decal
Looks to be in excellent condition.
What would be a fair price for the bike. The tag on it right now is $5500 :spew:
Does $5000 seem more realistic?
We have seen a 2007 model with 5000kms for $5000 but its not in the colour he wants.
Just a ball park figure would be good based on model and KMs.
Anything else we should look out for with the bike?
Cheers,
Michael

can't comment on the price (have no idea what they are in the west)
but the bike..??
these lil' jiggers are generally all good, cheap to run, no real vices, easy to ride
....nothing really goes wrong with 'em (provided they get serviced when
they should...like all 2fiddys)

Considering $5,900 buys you a brand new '07 model (just looking at bikesales.com), I think 5,500 is a little steep. Definately look closer to 5k.
IMO tho (and assuming the fun tickets can be stretched), he should be looking at ZZR's.
I just HATE GPX's. They are one boring, ugly mother.......

GPX's are a great learner bike but as others have said, I wouldnt pay that sort of price for one when you can get a brand new one for $5990.
In fact, I wouldnt pay over $3500 for my first/learner bike as you're only going to sell it in 12 months and upgrade to a big bike as soon as you're able.
Tell him to save his coin for his big bike and just get a run of the mill second hander.

Cheers for the advise guys.
We tried to convince him to go for an older model bike and save for when he has his full license but he decided to splurge a little and keep it for a bit longer to get the most out of it.
Managed to talk them to 5k which I guess is reasonable for it in country WA.
It looks pretty much brand new and so far we cant find a scratch or fault on it anywhere.
He is pretty stoked with it. I might put up some pics later. I have seen some ugly GPXs but I think the colour he chose looks pretty good.
Fun to ride too... Bit scary :1peek:
