You could change to a VX HSV kit (i think the VX calais/HSV lights are interchangable, someone wanna confirm that?) otherwise change headlights+frontbumper for an SS, which would probably be my preference.

Is it really worth the expense? If you change the front, then what about the rear. An SS from the front and a Calais from the rear, or maybe those old Monaro lights on the rear. Had a VX Exec from new and changed front and rear to SS stuff, except rear spoiler and HSV rear lights and it looked ok, but a very expensive exercise and wouldnt recommend it. The car becomes a bit of this and a bit of that and starts to look crappy.
Go for it if thats what you want to do though. Maybe buy an SS next time and leave the Calais for someone else.
AFAIK the front grill of the VX series is actually part of the whole front bar! So to answer the original question, I don't think just the front grill can be replaced.

Nope.
S/SS and HSV's are the only one piece VX models.

Depends on what you consider 'worth it'.
I despise the front of VX Calais/Berlina. So much so that i probably wouldn't buy one. *shrugs* But i had one and wanted to change the grill the only way is to change the bumper/kit. and i probably would. Id keep the VX Calais rearend/tailight treatment, that looks good, I think monaro taillights look like garbage on anything with 4 doors. True, might need to put on sideskirts and maybe rear bumper to make it look right though.

The monaro taillights do look crap, but if you have to do it, go the HSV ones which have a black background and suited my black car, but wouldnt recommend it as the car starts looking like 4 cars in one. Its a matter of been there done that and wont do it again.
