Only yesterday I went to an exhaust shop to get some reducers made up. At the front of the workshop is a chain that restricts customers from entering. I stood back out of the shop for a few minutes whilst I waited for another customer to get served. Once he left I went beyond the chain and told the bloke what I wanted. He pulled out some pipe and began cutting it down. I was about a good four to five metres away from him.

All of a sudden. Bam! A shard of metal/debris flew out of the saw and collected me right under the eye. 10mm higher and it would have seen me in hospital no doubt.

I guess this could be used as a warning to others. The chain is there for a reason. I'm sure sponsors will agree.

You enter at your own risk and if something happens then I think most people would understand that they themselves are at fault. If my car was getting worked on, I would like to go and have a look every now and then, regardless of the very low risk of injury or workers not wanting me too.

Yeah. I put myself entirely at fault. I would never come back at the business and tell em they were responsible. It just highlights the dangers that can be found in the workplace.

Interestingly, I've had 3 x things lodged in my eyes before. On each occassion I've had to go and get them removed at hospital where they numb your eye and use a needle to pick it out. Try sitting there while someone's pointing a needle at your eye. Not cool.

 sorry I had to laugh, I've had my eyes scrapped 4 times and 1 time I got sent to a specialist to get my eyeball drilled to remove some steel which would not scrape out
