i was just wondering why so many gentt kits come up for sale compared to any other forced induction kits. i was thinking that it could be because there are so many more of them, but i was just throwing the question out there

just because there are so many of them, and im not sure but the power limit of them might have users looking for more with bigger turbos/manifolds, but im not sure as I dont know the upper limits of the kit power wise.

340 - 370rwkw on a stock std car would outweight most if not all competitors - especially when you factor the price in.. usually ~ 15 - 25% cheaper than other simlar options.

More than likely they are disappointed with the result :spew: and since a good stroker feels a shit load better to drive. A few people i know went back to N/A setup.

More hassle then what they are worth, they really don't love them!!! it is more bling bling factor lift the bonnet and show of your snails....

Just my thoughts, and yes they are very bias towards my opinon because it is my opinon and no one elses.. I am not a turbo fan, and yes i a have been in gen TT cars before..

For the record, I don't love Gen-TT's either.

I love Gen-T's.

Which is why, even after losing an engine (not the turbo's fault), I'm building it back with boost in mind. Cause i'm hanging on to my Garrett hair dryer for a loooong time

And as for Bling factor? My car is a totally stock looking Calais, with V6 Ecotec badges and a black intercooler. Further evidence to my love for the sheer performance of the turbo, without needing to show it off

yeh after reserching all the options out there it just seemed that it is a lot easier to find a second hand gentt kit for sale.

Thats the best way. Wait for a 2nd hand kit to hit the classifieds. Save yourself $3K to $4K. They usally have done stuff all klms as well.

I think that due to the great value and price people buy the kits with great intentions then figure out the little extra's that are required to actually put it on the car (like fitting, tuning, injectors, fuel system upgrade etc etc) and find they may have bitten off more than they could chew. The opposite is also true, ppl buy them and then figure the turbo's are too small or they want to build an engine to suit and it either gets too hard, too expensive or the kits are too small.

I think that the VE also has a lot to do with it, ppl are selling off their old mods and upgrading.

I'm not sure a basic GenTT kit has made 400rwkw?

Perhaps many of you will know that I sold my GenTT and the guy who bought it has it up for sale now as well. My situation was unique and there were a whole lot of reasons why I went back to my heads/cam package - simplicity and reliability among them. I also already had a very, very nice package and was caught up in all the turbo hype. As Tuna explained to me, the GenTT is really suited to a stock motor and this is what it was designed for. I put it on a heads/cam and was disappointed - my mistake. Instead of changing turbos to bigger (which, let's face it, would eventually require a built engine) or changing heads to decrease comp I went back to what I knew I loved - a reliable but fast heads/cam LS1. I don't regret that decision one bit. As with all things, do your research as the GenTT will suit some people and not others. On a stock car, it is hard to make as much power for as few dollars.

Dunno Champ.. don't really care either.. maybe if you're that interested - pm them and find out? I'm not going to get into an internet **** fight over why some guys is selling something... though you seem very excited about the topic.

Why are people selling cams, wheels, torque converters....

Guess the only reason people would really get excited about it is if they have some sort of agenda...

**edit**just had a quick look at the classifieds.. where are these vast amounts of GenTT kits for resale..? I saw 3 or 4 brake set ups, a fair few exhausts and a lot of wheels etc.. and even an APS TT... maybe they are all faulty also?

Also - for the record - If I had a choice between a SC and Turbo - I would prob pick the SC (unless I had to pay for it!)

i dont have any stickers on my car anymore so looks stock as anything, aslo i never open my bonnet unless i have to like at home or the drags. I agree with Voodoo on the matter of why so many are for sale. Some people get the kit and realise it wasnt for them for many reasons. Its perfect for me as i love the way the boost comes on and i could afford to do other upgrades to cater for the extra power
