Hi All

Just wondering if anyone can help me out. This moring I did my usual oil level check on my vx Clubby and I noticed the pipe which connects to the air filter was not connected to it. Instead it wasnt connected to anything so it was like having no air filter at all. I tool the pipe and everything apart and cleaned it all up before conecting everything up properly this time. Just wondering if any damage could have been done to the engine. It seems to be running normal. Also is there another air filter which serves as a backup incase the pod filter doesnt do its job or incase of situations like this.

Any help would be much appreciated

it would be very unlikely that any damage was done

As above.
As long as you weren't following another car down a dusty road recently, it's unlikely.

Safest you could do is give it an oil and filter change.

dont see what a oil and filter change is going to do ,intake has nothing to do with the oil and filter

A small coating of oil is always left on the bore walls, to minimise ring, piston and bore wear. Dust particles would stick to this, then get scraped back down into the sump oil, which is then pumped all around the engine.
That's why.

unless there was a s@#t load of dirt got sucked into the intake (highly unlikely) I couldnt see a oil change doing much and if there was the damage would be done anyway
