Hi there,

I've replied to a couple of posts in the Tar Pit section and the last one I replied to ended up just adding onto my previous reply (which was the last post in the thread) and I don't seem to be able to edit that post.

I understand that posts in that section of the forum don't add to the 10 posts in order to be validated, but am I doing something else wrong?

Thanks in advance for any assistance.

Best Regards,
StuH

That's the 'Auto Merge double posts' thingo you're talking about? When you reply to two posts within a short space of time it automatically merges the posts. I'm pretty sure that is a standard forum feature, can't see that there's anything wrong with that.

Hi SleeperVX,

That's the message at the bottom of the post - Auto merge double post.

Thanks for the explanation, I thought I might have been doing something wrong.

Is there any reason why I can't edit that post to delete the duplicate entries?

Thanks,
StuH

Unfortunately when it automerges it seems to use the time of the original post, so if it was more than 15 mins ago then even though you just added the new post you can't get in and edit it....... :(

As others have said, its a feature called "AutoMerge Double Post". Basically if you reply to a post, and then within 24hrs come no-one else has replied to the thread, and you decide to reply, your new post will be merged into your old post.

The down side of this is that you dont get the 15 minute edit window.

If you still not sure let me know ill try and explain it further.
