Hi Guys,

Well I have been thinking, I know not a good idea but hey. I was wondering apart from the price of the car in which it will be built, what kind of price range am I looking at to dump a 5.7Lt into an older model Holden? This is only coming up as I am still trying to decide on which car is being purchased next. So if I could manage to put together something that would be kinda unique and personal for the same price range as buying something newer then it could be fun.

Cheers,
Steve.

Maybe try V6 conversions www.v6conversions.com.au They do all sorts of V6 & V8 transplants into a number of early models.

Cheers, Brett

I doubt you'd see much change from $10K.
Depending on whether you bought new or used components, and if you bought a front cut, it'd also be dependant on how much stuff ya got.

My VT 5L conversion using all new parts (except motor, trans, engine harness and ECU) cost me around the $7K mark. Like i say though, that was all new components. Tailshaft was about $800.

Using a stock engine it will cost between 10-15k depending on how neat you want it and how much you can do yourself.

Hahaha there is not too much I could do myself. Well if it around 10-15 then it sounds like I might go ahead with it considering I'll get about that for my car I have now. Will have to think about a few more things before I jump straight in.

I jammed one into a WB one tonner about 6 years ago, hasn't missed a beat and sure as hell makes look twice hard on the throttle. It's not that costly around $750 loom, $200 mounts, $250 VATS removed, $750 exhausts and you can mix and match a few other bits. Buy the complete engine and box and away you go. The usual costs come into play like shortening tailshaft and the fans but you need them on others anyway. Good luck.
