OK ... so my VX Clubby just got smacked around by the hail that just hit Western Sydney.
Problem is, 3 weeks ago I moved ( less than 10kms from previous residence) and stupid me had forgotten to ring the Insurance mob and update my details.
Question is, am I screwed? Will this void their obligations?
Got about 20 minutes worth of these buggers:

Maybe "you were in the area visiting a friend when the hail hit" oh and while you have them on the phone you need to update your address details as you've moved.
I reckon you should be ok though.

Got any pictures of the car to see how bad it is? Sorry to hear by the way!

Yer, my car got pelted pretty badly as well. :bawl:
Just looking at it, there must be 40 plus dents easily. Rang the Insurance guy's and they told me to ring back after 8am tomorrow to lodge a claim, it will be my first claim so if someone run me through what expect when I ring them tomorrow I'd appreciate that.
Also if anyone knows someone who's good fixing this sorta damage could you let me know, I live in Castle Hill if that helps.
Thanks
Bloody Hail..........:flipoff:

I am sure they wont screw you for that, but Funny enough i was sorting out some new finance for a Client last week and I needed him to have full cover over the car because it was being used as security, when on the phone to start the Policy he was told there is a hold on ALL new policy's in our area because there are Thunder storms forecast for that afternoon...
Interesting to say the least.

I wonder if the Bella Vista area got hit...got a few mates out there who'd be spewing if it did.
We copped a lashing up here on the Central Coast ...just now got our power back. Got the rain and the wind but here on the coastal part we just missed the path of the hail. Not sure about the Wyong area though.
Back in feb 2005 I got hit with cricket call sized hail that totalled one of my cars....scary sh*t when you're in it at the time.

Well I'm in Blacktown, and nosman is in Castle Hill ... so if we both got hit, then Bella Vista got hit, as it's directly in between us.
Worse thing about it is, by the time I realised it was hailing, I had to just stand there and watch. The size, amount, and force that they were coming down, had I ran out there and been smacked on the head, I would have been out cold. Next door neighbour has 54 broken roof tiles. I have about 5 that need immediate replacing, with holes I literally fit my fist through.
I'll get some happy snaps of the car up tomorrow.

I was visiting my parents in Castle Hill. Good thing my mum went out to the shops, I quickly got the VX-II Calais in the garage while the hail was 10-15mm in diameter. Got smacked in the head several times running to the car. 10 seconds later the f'n golfballs started falling.
Damn Damn lucky I was.

Funny that. Back in January 1994 during the fires someone was ringing an insurance company for house insurance and in the background was heard the police calling for everyone to evacuate.
The car dealers at castle hill have nothing to sell today, Holden, Toyota and Ford all in the brunt of the storm. :xmas:

Shouldn't think so...just remember to use your old address as your current address IF you're asked for it.
Don't think you'll have to explain why the car was parked there either, but if you do...you could have been visiting someone in the street, at the park (if there's one nearby) or you stopped there to eat your Macca's/KFC :)

Hey Rooks,
The insurance company will be innundated with claims for hail, yours will be just another one. They will put you in with everyone else, so it's not like you have a 'stand alone' hail claim. As you will be batched with all, it is highly unlikely that anyone will spend more than 30seconds looking at your claim.
You will be fine, as long as the policy is paid. Good luck with the repair, are they likely to fix it with paintless dent removal (PDR)? If so, I'm sure they will do a good job. My CV8 was hammered last year and now it looks a treat. They even fixed the door dents!

I live in Bella Vista and the Mrs just left to pickup #2 daughter when it hit.
Those Lexus windscreens are tough but the body took a hammering. I put the garage door up in case she came back home and there was 300mm of hailstones already banked up against the roller door!
I went to move the Magna inside and my son and I saw a pidgeon get knocked out of the sky (stupid bird!) so I stayed inside and watched.
Thank god Stan the Senator was in the garage.
I have a lightly aerated pergola now though :).
Is the cost of repairing these things much cheaper these days? It would have to be real bad to write them off eh?
