Those pictures look awsome. If Holden bring these out I would have to consider selling the Monaro for one.

Front end looks good on the new car, front and rear ends look good on the original. Chuck a steel roof on that one, or put the old rear on the new concept.

Saw that article in Motor and my first response was great.
But then I thought that why would Holden release a car badged as a Torana but looks nothing like any Torana? all the other cars being retroed of late are based on similar styling cues to the original hero cars of that name!
I know they did it with the Monaro but it goes against what is happening with the other marques.

Sorry Mr Holden teh "Epca " does not cut it for me as a mid size car, but the Torana looks like the start of a new relationship ( if it comes out )

If Holden bring back the Torana, I will be first in the queue !

Holden would be absolutely out of touch with the market if they don't do this now.

I see no reason why Holden couldn't sell upwards of 2,000 to 2,500 a month which would seriously take the fight up to the Toyota Camry for No.1 selling medium sized car.

HOLDEN, PRESS THE "GO" BUTTON NOW !!!!!

Would any of you really buy one if it only came with an NA 6? If this is a mid sized car then I doubt they would stick an 8 in it. The best you would hope for is a 6 and most would be sold as 4cyl I would say.

I agree. I don't think they be able to fit a V8 engine, but there could be a 280kw twin turbo 6 which would be very nice :headbang:

I'd buy one with a nice 3.2V6 and an A6 with Hatch.

Well no but for the same reason I wouldn't buy a NA 6 Commodore. We know that they will build both base and sports models. I would however prefer to see a 4 door hatch like the TT they did a few years back.
I will say that I think it will be an absolute disaster if Holden do not build a mid size vehicle of the type we are discussing here. Whatever they call it i don't care.
Almost sounds like time for a petition to Holden cause so there is no doubt in their minds that this car would sell. ( Remember GTR-X anybody ? )

VF cues in that I wonder? Looks like an amalgam of VE and Mazda 3 styling, I think it looks good.

Interesting isn't it...

As far as I know, one of the reasons Holden designed the pink Torana concept was to test the public's reaction to the door frame and handles (which are now on the VE), to see if they liked them.
I'm willing to bet that they didn't expect such widespread interest in the Torana concept and hence have decided to design a possible candidate for the re-introduction of the Torana.

Personally I think they have a lot to live up to if they want to revive the Torana as it once was and keep it a highly respected performance car.

The OP is not a new design! It's a rebadged POS that is not even Australian.

Holden already have a Torana. It's pink, it had a TT V6 in it and if they put it into production they'd have a winner!

Tend to agree with you on this one.
But as I have already mentioned Holden do not have a great history of being able to correctly read public opinion. I mean even the Monaro concept almost didn't get of the ground and public opinion to build that was overwelming.

The direct injection version of our NA v6 puts out 225kw (which is coming our way). If they can keep the weight to 1500kg or under and make it handle like a go-kart...then I can't see why you wouldn't buy it.

That Photochop in wheels is definitely a rip off of the Opel GTC Concept. Do a search in google its pretty damn similar.

The orange one isn't doing much for me, but if Holden built the TT36 (sans the white interior), with a quality suspension design underneath, I'd be easily convinced to return to a Holden. :yup:

Your move Holden.

It's just an Opel Insignia concept chopped with new colour and badges.

Actually its the Opel Gran Turismo Copue Concept car.

This is a really piss poor effort from Motor. Taking a front drive (it may have been awd) Opel Concept car, changing colour and badges and calling it Torana is an absolute joke.

At least we get more options when buying Holden cars!

Can I help you?
Can I show you our selection of 2 Door V8 cars?
Are you interested with the Camaro, Torana or the Monaro?

Motor have a history of doing this.
Remember mid 2005, Motor said they had 'real' pics of the upcoming VE, but they were nothing more than chopped pics of a FWD Saturn Aura.

Saturn Aura.

Chopped pics of a FWD Saturn Aura are not 'real' (Motor's word) pics of a VE!
Different matter if they say this is what they 'think' the VE might look like, and use some school kids chopped renderings.

Same as they have done this issue, and just chopped pics of an Opel GTC.

Im probably about 12 months late here, but... anyone else notice the
striking similarities btrwn the original Torana concept and the VE? Im talking in particular the dash, steering wheel, front end and other bits and pieces. Of ocurse its nothing new for manufacturers to test the water before production, but in hindsight, the styling cues are very very close!!

I hope this new thing is not an indication of the future of Commodores...
