Hi everyone,

just got back from APS where they installed a ripshift.:headbang:
If you have a compatible transmission for these you HAVE to get one.
They change the feel of driving the car completely, they are awesome!

Cheers!

They are certainly a lot of fun aren't they. People just don't tend to get it, till they try 1 anyway.

Have you got any other mods?

Good stuff Marls,
I highly recommend learning to flat shift, thats when they really show their form!
Shouldn't do that on the road mind you lol...

No other mods really, i've only had the car 2 weeks.

It's got a poor excuse for a cold air intake that the previous owner put on, looks like something from autobarn.

A redback cat back exhaust which yo can't really hear. The APS guys are recommending a tune and DiFillipo as next steps.

It has however been lowered with 19'.

But the Ripshift is crazy! i cannot beleive how good they work. These could be sold with a money back guarantee i reckon.

sounds like you got SS Reductions....if so or equivelent do your self a favour and throw it on ebay, my ute came with one averaging 16l's and it dropped it to high 13l's and cutting the whole front face out of airbox helped alot, regardless of the hot air

Congratulations mate. The Rip is certainly one of the best mods that I've done to date. It completely transforms the whole driving experience.

Enjoy it,

Macca

what did APS charged for one fitted?

Hi Guys,

APS really hooked me up, I called up and spoke to Frank, told him that i had found them on the Forums. He told me a little bit more about the ripshift and then said he would supply AND fit for $550:)

They were really cool as well, interested i talking about other options without the hard sell.

I recommend those guys.

With my Airbox, the guy i bought the car off has taken it out all together and there is just the tube with the filter on the end.

I'll be putting them on ebay and then headin back down to see APS after christmas i think.

Cheers

Macca,

Your exactly right mate, all the hype surrounding this thing is true.

It really does make driving the car more enjoyable.

Very direct and accurate gear changes without any slack.

that is a good price, as they are 499rrp. Although they would be substantually cheaper at trade prices, how much cheaper im not sure. But cant complain at 50bucks for a fitting, as it can be a fiddly exercise!

must agree with you guys, the stock feel / changes when changing gear from factory is a joke....
Ripshifter changed it completely plus new clutch now has made short shifts even quicker!

top product

Had mine done about a month ago.
Everything I read about em was true.
Simply brilliant. But I must admit, took a couple of weeks to get properly used to.

second to third and forth to fifth, also on the down change fifth to forth etc. it does take a couple of days to get used to i found. i had never even driven a car with a rip shift until i picked up mine.
hope that helps.
cheers damo

Anyone in Canberra with a VE who might want to give me a demo of their shifter?

I'm used to super slick sequential (LOL) motorcycle gearboxes with clutchless powershifts so the VE manual box is very truck like to me.....keen as to check out the ripshifter!

Hey mate, talking about flat shifting.. Isn't that really bad for your transmission? Ripshift wise.. the best value for money mod anyone can do I reckon..

Mate, you will never regret getting one. Regardless if you take a car for a test drive or not, once you feel it you will never own a car without one, ever again :)

No you don't, but you do have to get underneath to release the OEM cover.

when i fitted my shifter i dropped the gearbox which isnt that hard anyway, i think vt-vx might be a bit different to vy-vz which might be why others didnt have to drop the tranny.
