I have just had my Sat Nav upgraded with new firmware and a V14 Sensis map disk under warranty. I thought that after the upgrade was done I would be able to get more functionality from the system. All I can see that it has done is that new roads are now recognized but none of the following features are available:
Red light camera alerts
Speed camera alerts
School zone alerts
Speed limit indication
Sensis claims that all this information is on the V14 map disk.
I have emailed Holden Customer assistance and they tell me that these functions are available and all I need to do is to activate all POIs and the alerts should function. I did this and still no alerts. Has anyone out there got any of these features on their Holden factory Sat Nav? I think that this shouldn't be a big ask as the most basic portable units you can buy have these features.

We need a better manual that shows the icons.
There are a number of icons i don't know what they are?

I have found this link that has symbols used on European maps. These symbols are generally common across different systems.
http://www.mini2.com/forum/attachment.php?attachmentid=24890&d=1068231447
When you click on the link it will open a PDF file with the POI symbols.
I have had a further reply from Holden Customer Assistance saying that they are looking into this issue and will advise me when they resolve it.

I have the current version as well and cannot see any of those, which is quite disappointing considering the fact that for the price of the full colour map sat nav, I couldve bought the very top of the range, most expensive portable unit in the market and still have cash left over. Not to mention the many trips to the dealer getting things fixed and the 4 days I had to drive around in the sales rep's shitty VZ executive while waiting for things to be replaced and updated and waiting for parts, all for an accessory which was paid for when the car was bought and there was lots of waiting (8 months+) and lots of lies from the dealer. After all that I must say that 7/10 times it works great but I really get the shits when i'm navigating inner city suburbs and in the city (sydney) and I get directed to tiny alleys with no vehicle access.
One update to the firmware I like is the big arrow on the colour screen has little strokes on it that dissapear to represent how many more turns there are till the one I'm supposed to take.
I would really like to know why theres none of the features like speed cameras etc.

You must have gone to the same dealer as me!! They had my car for 5 days trying to install it! 5 Months after I got the car.
And by the way the feature you talk about

Well I've heard back from Holden CAC who advised
"regrettably the Sat Nav fitted in you vehicle cannot display red light or speed camera locations/warnings". Not to mention school zones, speed limits etc.
This is pretty poor. You pay $2,000 for a factory fitted Sat Nav and it has a fraction of the functions you get on a $350 portable unit. I know that the Blaupunkt EX-V navigation computer has all these functions so why can't we access them? Anyway I'm not giving up hope yet. I will keep nibbling away at Customer Assistance until I get an acceptable resolution.
