Hi,
This might be a stupid question, but here goes anyway.
Is is possible to change a VY Commy to a GTO fuel tank (the one in the boot) so that the exhaust can come out both sides?
Thanks

This one has come up before.
Yes, "technically" it's possible, but you would have to modify the boot floor around the tank area, modify fuel pipes and hoses, weld up your existing fuel filler hole and re-weld the filler with a new filler pipe of a Monaro higher up the quarter panel (if the curve even matches a sedan), paint the quarter panel (and blend paint), then get an engineers certificate for it all to be legal!

Ok then, is it possible to have some form of race or other tank of similar size installed in the boot and prefferably still retain the factory fuel gauge?

Type "monaro twin" or "twin exhaust" into the relevant sections for some answers. Usual way is to run a cross pipe between the tank and the back panel, but it can be tight.

sorry, where do you mean to type that in?

When you open up each section of the forum, there is a "search this forum" section near the top right, just about the first thread. Click on it, type in the relevant words to your question, and you will get a list to choose from, if it has come up before.

Check the CAPA site. When I was going to get this done on my Avalanche there was a fuel tank that was a different shape that allowed it. About $800 from memory. It is basically disigned to allow adventra to get lowered to the max. It could be an option on a sedan with a couple of mods I would say. I have not heard if anyone has actually tried it.

Just another avenue to investigate for you. I did some sums with the avelanche and with all the new tank stuffing around, fuel lines, new custom exhaust, plastic welding and paint on the rear diffuser it would be around $2000. Not worth it so I put it off. Maybe one day.
