Just had a bonnet protector fitted to my new SSV (I have had stone chip issues with previous cars). I did notice on closer inspection that the protecot is attached with nasty little metal clips directly onto the bonnet edge with no protection (plastic sheave etc) for the duco - is this normal? seems like it won't be too long, if not already, that these little clips will scratch the paint and cause the types of issues I was trying to avoid with the thing in the first place?????:bawl:

There should be the clear plastic stick on protectors between the paint and clip. Take it back and get them to put them on, and check for any scratches closely and have it recorded.

Like jkgmh said, mine also has clear adhesive plastic rectangles under each of the metal tabs.

For sure I'd be removing the protector and metal tabs (carefully) to see what has happened underneath. Those tabs are sprung pretty tight (at least with the plastic affixed) and it is very likely they will/have worn through the duco.

Good luck with it.

Get them off now! My Subaru was delivered new 3 years ago with the bonnet protector metal clips straight onto duco. I took them off 6 months ago to find the metal had rusted through the paint and has left some ugly scars.:vpo:

The dealer I bought the car from would not return my calls. Another of lifes lessons learned.
