Warning to HSV VE owners,
Stay away from Surfers City Holden on the Gold coast unless you like giving away your dollars.
What I experience on Friday when I picked my R8 after its 45000km service was our right robbery.
I got charged $439 for an oil change, new oil and fuel filter, and labor.
Can anyone tell me what else goes into this service apart from the above as nothing else was itemized on the invoice.
my 15000km service at the same place was only $360
my 30000km service at a different Holden dealer cost $340 which had the same work done to it.
I questioned the invoice but I was getting nowhere and causing a scene so I bit my tongue as most people do. Lesson learnt, got me once and never twice.
anyone else had a similar experience with servicing.

Why do you get it serviced at Holden? Go to Power Torque or High Torque or similar workshop up there that will look after you and not charge a fortune like Holden.

Ring back monday and take it up with someone higher.
Either the bill wasn't itemised properly or they have overcharged. Neither is acceptable :vpo:
Also, ignore the following moronic posts that will claim Holden is in the right and you are in the wrong :flipoff:

Admittedly I don't know what that service should cost as I've only had 10,000 and 20,000 services done on my previous LS1s (have been fortunate enough to be able to turn them over quickly) but I think the most any service has cost me at my local dealer is about $220 - and that was with Mobil 1 oil!
should be an air filter in there as well. 45k service at your local mechanic shouldnt cost you more than 280 dollars. service work is easy, any mechanic can do it, hell, 1st year apprentices do it at dealserships!

That said, there was an air filter change on the invoice,
i pointed out the fact that my car has an after market growler CAI on it, so how could you charge me for something you didn't do.
Monday I will call and speak to the service centre manger and raise a few points and temper:vpo:.
I'll keep you guys posted.

Your service book will contain all the areas and items that are to be done on the service, these may not appear on the actual invoice from the dealer but should be done none the less.
Surfers City service about 80 cars a day so it is very lucrative for them and I don't assume for 1 minute that you are not paying through the nose for the "free" pick up and drop off service or the "free" lounge and coffee etc provided.
They also should quote you prior to you leaving the car and ring if any additional costs are to be expected after inspection :1peek:

I've been ripped off for services too. My 100,000km service cost $880, and the only extra thing I had done was brake pads.
Some stealerships are utterly hopeless, there's only one I trust, and that's the only one lucky enough to get my business anymore.

After the warrenty period is over it beats me why anyone would pay for a regular oil and filter change.

My 15000k service cost me $180 (I provided my own Mobil 1 oil). What gets done to a HSV that doesnt get done to an SS??? Probably have a second year apprentice do the HSV's and a first year apprentice do all the others.

I'm hearing you about extortionate servicing costs...
I rang 3 dealerships to get quotes for my SS V's upcoming 15000k service.
Prices ranged between $320-$360.
When I checked what work was outlined in the owner's manual, it states:
Labour - 1.2hrs
Parts - Oil & Filter
The hourly labour rate is $126.00.
That leaves the Oil and Filter change at approx $150-$210 :vpo:
V6 vehicles owned previously ran at around $160-$180 for the same minor service (and these were mobile - less chance of an inexperienced 17 year old - you can actually see who does the job!).
Whilst I consider it prudent to get the first service done by a Holden Dealership, I am certain that my wheels won't be back down the track...
