Does anyone know of locksmith/key-cutter in Sydney that can cut and recode a VZ Commodore key? Tried Mr Minit but most of their stores can only do VT~VX (not VY and VZ) apparently only their Blacktown store can do VY and VZ. It's a bit urgent, it seems the key battery has gone dead.
Is it true the key battery gets a recharge when in the ignition? If so, i wonder if i put it in another car, will it get enough charge to use in the short term?

if thats the case ,why can't you just put it in your own ignition to recharge ? or am i missing something here ? Either way Holden should be ashamed of themselves with the VT-VZ keys ,making them the way they have :vpo: :flipoff:

It's a "repmobile" i bought a few months ago as a daily hack, i didnt get a spare key unfortunately. And I didnt want to set the alarm off (didnt realise the alarm will stop as soon as you start the car, doh). Anyhoo, after doing that, the remote now works again... go figure?! The manual says if this happens, one of the things to try is key in, start & stop the car. Presto all ok now. Hmm... I better get a spare! Still would be good to know who in Sydney can do it. Suppose i can now just drop by Holden during the week.
The manual also says the battery is not rechargable fwiw.

Steve (vt2vx) will be able to tell you exactly where you can get a spare nearby :teach:

The code will have cycled back into sync once turned in the ignition.
Happens sometimes.

Is that like that old trick of if you get hold of a mates keys, you press the unlock button 250 times and it then loses track of the rolling code ?
Yeah, i'm a prick, but have been called worse

Don't think I'd get to 250 presses before my thumb would freeze up.
