and noticed any difference in acceleration. I'm in Brisbane and the Brock shop says it will make a difference, is it a worthwhile mod?. The aim is to increase performance but at the same time i don't want the economy to go to the pack. Any help would be much appreciated:)

a diff ratio is very dependant on how you drive, 3.7 gears will improve accelleration but will also result in slightly less economy when cruising.
So,
Do you do mainly city driving, or mainly highway driving?
From there you will start to work out whether you want to drop a couple of tenths at the drag strip or whether you want to go to the servo and fill up more often.

It's mainly city driving with the odd 300km recreational trip to the coast a back. I'v bee given a price of $880, does this seem right?:)
$880 sounds like a reasonable price.
The higher you go in diff gears, the less top end you will have but more low down grunt (more punchy from standstill). As a side effect of this you will sacrifice fuel economy on the highway as your car will rev higher, now I'm not sure what diff gears VE comes with so I couldn't tell you the difference in revs. As far as I know its 3.45 so from that to 3.7 I reckon your revs will go to about 2500-2600rpm/100kmh at an absolute stab in the dark.
It's definately worth it though if you don't do much highway driving, you'll notice it straight away.

3.45s to 3.7's will increase your 100 km rpm by about 7% (70 rpm in 1000 rpm, so 1500 rpm cruising in 6th will lift to 1605 rpm).
3.27's to 3.45's will increase your rpm by about 5% at 100 kmh.
Interesting the extra 100 + revs have assisted in fuel economy in a 6M when cruising on the highway, but needs to be viewed in consideration with any other power or drive train mods you have done.
2.92 to 3.27 is a big jump if you are considering doing it in an auto, 12.2% increase in revs at 100 kmh. (1500 rpm will go to 1680+ rpm)
Do not buy just the gears, it is false economy. it takes hours to set them up right and your diff will never be as good as factory. If you are going to do it, swap the complete diff, it is worth the extra cost.
You can pick up new 3.7 complete diffs for about $1350 and $150 to instal.
VE diffs can be sourced in 2.92 V8 Auto, 3.27 VE HSV Auto, 3.45 VE SS / SSV Manual, 3.7 VE HSV Manual.

Hope you did not pay that ..... $1795 is full retail! if you did, you got tucked.
A good relationship with my dealer and a parts guy who has a passion for VE's helps out with good pricing when he can.

HSV / SS/SSV diff is the same part ..... it is actually an HSV part. The 3.7 that is.

Umm no. Thought you were saying there is a HSV 3.7 and an SS/SSV 3.7, that is how I read it anyway.
SS / SSV / Calais V8 runs 2.92 Auto, 3.45 Manual
HSV runs 3.27 Auto / 3.7 manual.
Try a holden dealer who you can get it cheaper from.
