Ignition barrell on VZ SV6 fubar

Son rings me today and says the key won't turn. I get home and check it, and it's actually the key won't go in all the way... It was OK early today, but something has stuffed up. NRMA had a look and suggested a locksmith. Rang a locksmith and got some ideas to try but unfortunatley I need to check with fleet to see who I can use, so my son is grounded until then.


Tried the wd-40 in the barrell and key in and out many times. tried the spare key. Locksmith asked me if the wrong key had ever been inserted, and unfortunately the answer is yes (although not today)...

Oh well, at least it won't cost me anything, and I still have the SSV for me...

Mate had the same problen last year stuck at a servo had to got a toe truck to take me home, tried all the little tricks, Than finally just pulled the hole barrel apart and freed it all up gave it a good squirt with wd-40 and was all fine. but just recently put a new one in cost about $40 just to be on the safe side as i didnt find it to fun haveing to call the towie...and geting stuck...

ended up getting it towed to the dealer, damn fleet don't deal with locksmiths. and it was a pain loading it up as the front wheels were turned nearly full lock....
