hi everyone, can someone explain to me what "shift extensions" meen?
for instance i was just looking on a site about high stall converters and for arguments sake it was a 4000rpm stall and in the details it said shift extensions 4400rpm to 4600rpm? i dont get it???

Put simply it's the RPM that the engine will drop to when changing into the next gear at full throttle, higher shift extension = engine in peak power zone for longer.

Spot on there SLEEPERVX...a stocker stall might change into second and be pulling 3800rpm but with shift extension an aftermarket stall converter will be reving at 4500rpm (example only) after the shift although the car is going the same speed.
As he said it allows the engine to be in the power part of the rpm range in every gear amounting to more pull in each gear. Shift extension only works at WOT and should change normally when your driving normally
