View Full Version : CV8ZED's selling the HQ Monaro

I've made the decision to try to sell the Monaro, and with Motorvation coming up next month, it gives people a chance to see it at a show, without coming to my house..
It may seem odd as to why I'd want to part with it after all the hard work, but the truth is, It dosn't mean a great deal to me.
Sure I will regret it in years to come, thats inevitable, but I had never driven it before I rebuilt it, had never raced it (street or track), never met the missus in it, or cut some laps in it, truth be told I have only done a couple of passes at the 'plex in it, and about 160kms cruisin on the street with it, and although it's a real buzz cruisin in a blown car, it's not registered, it's always on a permit, and it's not covered by Shannons if I'm out cruisin on a permit.
People go gaga seeing it driving- especially in W.A. where the laws are tough, they speed up to get photo's, trucks flash lights at you, people point and yahoo out the windows, and while all this is very nice, it's also pretty nerve racking.
The car cruise no worries, dosn't get hot so you dont worry about the car, it's the other clowns you keep an eye out for.
I dont think I can handle keeping it and driving it without the blower in registered form, it just wont be the same car, and I'm so pedantic with my cars, that a stone chip pains me, so keeping in for a weekend cruiser is gunna do my head in, I thinks it's just too good a car to keep.
Is this rational thinking or the ramblings of a mad man??:eyes:

Be a shame to see you sell it Chris, but you have your reasons.

Have seen this car on the web many a time and in the flesh at the Busso Car show. Its a real credit to yourself and one fine spotless piece of machinery
If you do end up selling it I hope it goes to a person just as "pedantic" as yourself.

I can understand your reasoning behind the sale, but if it were me, and i had the room i'd be keeping it. Its an awesome machine. But it does get a bit saddening to see it just sitting there.
If it holds no sentimental value though, then for sure sell it, but as you no doubt will do, just take your time and wait for the right buyer to come along. Nothing worse than seeing all your hard earned money, blood, sweat and tears be crashed as a result of some yobbo with no idea...

Got plenty of room, the cash would be nice tho'...I could get my HK into the paint shop, pay the rest off the house and get a plan together for the Camaro, there's so many more things I want to do.
Who ever comes up with around 100k for a car should? have some respect for it, at the end of the day it'd be nice to see it driven :bawl: I think...
Thanks

Hi chris
No better time to make my 1st post.
Just for reference im the guy who helped you on the trailer at the Fazio movie shoot, my brother has the black HQ 350.
Mate i would give both nuts & become infertile for that car of yours, it is a real credit to you for creating such an awesome car (why you didn't win Motorvation is still a mystery to me)
Trust me, i know the level of attention a car like this can get, if it were me i would keep it until i had no interest in cars (my funeral) because it is an investment and would make a tidy superannuation sum. Have you thought about returning it to stock or racing it?

Ah Paul, hey mate, thanks for the help that day, yeah when I was a young wipper snapper, I dreamed of this car, now I have a business, loving wife, 3 great kids, heaps more cars, and other things become more important in thier own ways, so the car (HQ) only gets a small look in these days.
You could always buy it mate, I know a very good bank manager...:)

Paul,
I paid 2k for the roller 14 years ago, I've done pretty well out of it already..not interested in racing it, been there, done that in Super Street back at the old Ravo days, I was running low 11's in '94. want to try roundy, roundy racing in our (bank manager and me) VK SS track car.
cheers
