Cars currently running a 232/242 COME cam so i think L92 heads would be the go? Does anyone know of these heads or direct me with a better option? What else would need to be done to the engine to have the heads installed?
You will need a matching intake due to the rectangular ports.
There is also a parts list on page 2 of this article(sorry no direct links yet-copy/paste): carcraft.com/techarticles/ccrp_0705_chevrolet_ls2_l92_cylinder_heads/index.html
There was one article I came across that showed pics of the 2 different casting numbers. One has a smooth bowl and the other is very rough. So you might want to be sure to get the smoother one unless the heads will be worked over anyway.

I have been told that these heads are good for 1000 hp/745kW. I am contemplating using them on an LSX build. Either that or step up to some LS7's.

Firstly you need a minimum of 4.00 bore. With that cam (assuming it's big lift as well) you'll have to closely watch PTV clearance, particularly the huge intake valve. Unmilled L92 heads on a 6 litre give you 10.4 cr......milling them 0.030 gives you 10.9cr .
This page gives a fair amount of info.
