Hey guys,
Long time reader, First time poster! :)
I recently bought a 2004 Turismo Blue CV8, and as you do when you buy a new car I was checking out carsales and I come across a Morhpeous purple CV8Z. Actually the dealer is calling it a CV8 but from the photo's it looks like it has a CV8Z badge on the back....But it doesn't have a sunroof.
Does anyone know how many of these were produced? I'm just curious to know...Although the pricing on it is alittle expensive.
I tried to post a link but I need more than ten posts, If you want to have a look at it, hope onto car sales and look for Monaro's at dealships in Melbourne!

at the end of VZ they had a few released in VE colours. Kind of testing the waters so to speak. There was an SS at Bay City Holden in that purple, and an SV8 in the Orange from VE's at my local dealer in Mornington. Not special edition in terms of features or anything, just special colours.

Mate, you're right. All CV8 Z come with sunroofs, special wheels and badges.
They only came in 5 factory colours: Black, Silver, Devil yellow, Fusion Orange, Tourismo Blue.
The advertised CV8-Z Monaros which are in Morpheous and Ka Pow colours and no sunroofs (at dealers) are after production jobs.
Whether they were changed because the owners wanted them to - a very expensive option - or they were changed because of big accident repairs or even write offs by insurance companies.
If you're thinking of buying them, I'd be checking all the history of the cars, even contacting all the previous owners and also checking with Holden by quoting the VIN numbers of the cars.
Good luck.

there is a few photos here.
looks pretty breath taking.
as sk0690, check the car out thoroughly as it is pretty simple for a dealer to change the CV8 badge to a CV8-Z thinking no one would notice the difference.

the colour change does not mean after sales change or big accident. Like I said just within 15mins from my house the two Holden dealers both had new 0km vehicles in VE colours.

Please don't be confuse with the advertisement
Both cars are VZ series
One is a VZ CV8 the other is VZ CV8Z
They're visually similar except for the boot decal, IF the CV8 has the sunroof option.
The only way to differentiate them correctly is the compliance or build plate which cannot be doctored or altered :)

Yup, the compliance and built plates would reveal the facts. BTW, all CV8-Z are built after july 2005.
While you're there, check the colour codes on the plates and see if that match the actual colour of the cars.

neither of these are correct the morpheous is a genuine CV8Z i enquired about this vehicle and is one of 2 factory painted cv8z that were released. The car looks amazing in real life however the fact the car isnt that clean(lots of marks around the car) incorrect tyres and the fact they want 59k for a cv8z thats traveled 20000kms ..
If it was mid forties the car would be in my driveway..

Yeah, I've foud the price to be abit steep for that car.
I picked up my CV8, Manual with 15,000k on it for 46k. And it's in excellent condition.
Best money I've ever spent!! ;)

Hi SK0690,
I'm afraid you are totally wrong here!!!
I am the owner of the Morpheus CV8Z, both this car and the K-Pow Car were what was referred to by GM as "sighter cars".
They are essentially the concept for the CV8z Monaro itself. You are correct in that the car does not have an electric sunroof and the two Colours Morphues and K-Pow did not go into production. I have this vehicle certified as "one off" by Holden (including it's Vin Number) because of the fact that the CV8z Monaro's had an electric sunroof and no other Morpheus CV8z's (genuine) exist. The K-Pow Car has disappeared and it is thought that it was used as the Crash Test Car for the CV8z due to the number of changes to this model and the fact that Holden wanted to send the cars to America under the GTO badge ( and later to England under the Voxhual badge) meant that Holden was required to have them Crash Test Certified.
All this information I tell you, can be verified in Norm Darwin's book "Monaro Magic (Platinum Edition) on page 217 where a picture of the above two cars exist along with a Series III in SMICK colour, which also did not go into production.
The Morpheus Car was given to Sharon Gauci "Chief Designer at GM Asia Pacific, Port Melbourne and was later purchased by my Father in Law where I recently did a vehicle swap for this vehicle. The Vehicle has had three registration numbers and is now in NSW.
I trust this has cleared the long listed and misconceptions for this vehicle.

Nickh,
This car is in my driveway and the paint is immaculate. I have the full history of the car and it is certified by Holden as a "One Off" including its Vin.
Cheers.

He apologized for not crediting me with that pic.... I have quite a few more of it.
The pics were taken in Hampton, a bayside suburb of Melbourne
ps... the partial street sign behind the car is for the URCHIN Bar (which is still there)

.. this is what attracted this ex-Holden employee in the first place, as I thought it unusual
(even though I knew lots of Holden execs and employees live here)
