Hi guys, Happy New year first of all ! :),
I'm a proud owner of a VE SS M6. It was a dealer demo with 3800 k's on it. Man. the first night I got it I practically slept in the car! :) Totally unmodded at the moment except for a few accessories. My previous ride was a VP A4 so this is a major upgrade for me. To all you VE SS owners out there, what would be a good path (in your opinion) for modding the car. A few important points to mention:
1. I do not want mods that will affect the warranty.
2. The car has heaps of grunt (for me that is :) ) so added power is not top of the list for me. Although mods like CAI's that add incremental power are definitely the go.
3. More into the sound(exhaust) and looks modding path. (ie lowering etc)
4. Budget is not limitless :(
5. Would like to keep the stock 18's as they are pretty cool.
6. Other mods like alarm etc are also of interest.
Would appreciate any input guys !
Cheers

1. A re-tune should no affect your warranty
2. If getting a CAI use an OTRcai (Over the radiator) there are a few sponsors here that have just finished developing some good ones.
3. A 2.5 inch cat back exhaust should give a nicer sound as for lowering i'd suggest you look in the my ride section and find a ride height that you like then pm them and ask them details if not already listed what suspension they have used.
4. Re-tune anywhere up to $1000, OTR around $600, Cat back exhaust i'm not to sure maybe anywhere from $600 to $1000, maybe pm Red R8 he just had his done he may be able to give you a rough idea, Lowering (springs only) will set you back between $600 - $1000 so based on that you'd already be up to 3-4 grand depending on where you get it done.
5. The stock 18's are cool
6. mmm yeah just stick with the factory one for now.
Hope that helps
cheers - Matt

Congratulations on the new toy! :) You are new so people will hopefully take it easy on you when telling you :search:. There are many, many threads already discussing mods people have made to their VEs. Look in My Ride section at various VEs and you'll get a pretty good idea, plus if you can ignore the $hitfighting in there then Australian LS1 and Holden Forums (http://www.ls1.com.au/forum/showthread.php?t=85069) may have some useful info for you. Exhaust, CAI (cold air intake) and tune are typical initial performance mods.
However, you say you want to avoid potential warranty problems due to mods and there may be your biggest hurdle. Some dealers don't like any mods and will try to wipe any warranty claims that could be attributed even indirectly to your mods whereas others are much more amenable. First thing to do is see how your particular dealer feels about mods and what is and isn't acceptable to them.
Holden's official view on mods is on their website. Google Holden modifications warranty and you should find it or search on here for the same words in posts by me as I've copied and pasted it direct from their site on a number of occasions.
For lowered VEs see Australian LS1 and Holden Forums (http://www.ls1.com.au/forum/showthread.php?t=68171)

I would put a full 3" KPM zorst and pacemaker headers on it. Then a KPM CAI and a edit tune after. I would put a set of 3.7 diff gears and see how it feels. If this is not enough, i would go for the KPM 420kw cam and heads package. KPM also do turbo kits which would be the next step:)

A few more questions.....
Would changing the stock mufflers alone give a deeper exhaust note ?
Would it throw up any codes from the O2 sensor ?
What mufflers would you suggest ?
Cheers again

^ i think you could change them without a problem. Give KPM a call, they will point you in the right direction.

Cheers againstock mufflers can be changed but u introduce drone...very bad drone.
codes wont be thrown up at all.
SV8er went this way initially and it sounded great but drone was bad.
best to get a xforce cat back...they are pretty cheap.
RED R8 just got one for his VE R8
