Guys,
The lease is up on my VYII SS in about 6 weeks time and I have a guy who is interested in buying it. I'm not really sure what price to put on it. What ballpark figure do you think would be a fair price for the following.
VYII SS Phantom 6 speed.
H & M Headers & Full Stainless exhaust
Black leather interior
Climate Control
Sunroof
LS1 Edit by Sam 245 rwkw
120K (Freeway)
I know the K's are a little high but it is in immaculate condition and the guy who wants it knows it's history. I know if I held out i might get the right $$ if I wait but this guy has basically said that his limit is 20K and I can hand the keys over at the end of the lease.
What do you guys think?
Cheers Chook
Other than the 120K Km's you're looking at atleast $24,000 id imagine.
I'm assuming you let him have the first word on the price?
In any case i wouldn't take 20K.

Guys I never said that I was going to take 20K I would really like to know what it's real worth is. I see lots of adds on Car Sales & the like and they range from 21K to 30K, these are asking prices but what are they really going for. There are 2 prices here, what the heart says and what the market dictates, if the market says it's worth xx$ then it doesn't matter what I think it's worth.

I think I would agree with AFAR - $24K sounds closer to the mark for a VYII with sunroof and 120Km's. $20K is bargain buying.

You should get 24 k for it, maybe 25 or 26 if you were patient

Depends where you are in OZ,
here in Perth I needed 28K to get a VY ss and around 22k for a Vx SS couldnt strech my budget to 28k and then I saw one stock as a rock VY SS for 26.5k
again it depends where you are, but 20k it too cheap unless Im buying it and in that case its a rip and im doing u a favor lol

I'm told trade-in $18-20k, retail $24-$26k
Dealer will low-ball you because the aftermarket mods present warranty back up issues to a Holden franchised yard where they have to put a warranty on the whole car (they prefer bog standard cars).
Having said that a factory 'roof is a good sell point.
I've seen a 160k auto in white in the paper for $20k.
Cheers

FWIW i recently sold my 2003 VY 11 a4 with 44500 klm (no leather and no sunroof, but had ls1 edit, extractors and exhaust, aftermarket wheels and hsv center binnacles) for $25500.

I think the killer is the 120k on the clock. How friendly are you with the $20k guy? If you're not very good mates, I'd sign him up on an "As is" sale basis, take his $20 and move on.
If you're good mates, tell him you don't want to sell it to him for below what you feel is the "fair" price for you: if he's a good mate, he wouldn't try to low-ball you and he'd understand.

For reference I just picked up an 04 VYII SS, black, red leather, bog stock, 130K kms, clean but not immaculate with a 5yr warranty from a YARD for $23K (they had 28K+ on it).

if it's a lease. what's the residual? 12 months ago, my VYII SS with 78000k had a residual of 22500. One dealer offered 18k, a joke. The next dealer came good with the residual price.
If 'north of the bridge' values a VYII with 120k on the clock better than $20k, hang in there, otherwise take the money!

Car Sale prices are ASK........I just pm'ed someone here wanting to buy the exact same car but with low Ks.....my quote which includes on roads plus my expenses 22K.......2OK for a hassle free sale is good selling imho..:)however ,there is an old used car saying that has proven its worth as gold for me over the last decade or two when it comes to money * Buyers are liars *...the 20K is what he WANTS to pay.....tell him 21K driveaway...he won't knock it back if he wants the car.

Thanks for the responses guys, I have yet to speak to a dealer about trade etc so it will be interesting what they might ask on a new SSv.

I traded in my silver may03-built VY SS 6speed manual sedan with 58000 kms on the clock, stock standard for $23.5k back in May 07. One dealer was offering $19k! So you need to shop around. Good luck.

Thanks, I know the K's are going to hurt it but I'm still hopeful, it's still a great car. I just want a fair price and am willing to drop a little for a hassle free sale so we will see.

Thanks guys, I'm yet to get a valuation from a dealer but it's just a shame the market is so low (for sellers anyway) as I know the car is worth more that what I can get for it but the market will dictate the value. My previous SS (VX) even though it had slightly lower K's it had less extras and I got 29K for it, Doubt I'll get anything near that this time.

I'm pretty much the same as greenLS1vy above; VYII SS Ute M6, leather, climate control, sports bar, Pacemakers / X-Force, 130,000kms, $20,000 with three months statutory warranty.
I'd support what's been said above regarding the residual. If it's been a lease car you've already realised some financial advantages already. If the offer will clear the lease I'd take it with both hands! I know of many people whose residual it way above market value and that's caused them plenty of grief!!
Best of luck either way...
