Well, as I am getting closer to my ve SS ute I was thinking what I would miss about my current Lexus LS400. Most noticeably will be the sun roof (I still have hair so I love it). It’s quite a large one and extends forward of the driving position so you can see out of it (unlike newer cars with their sloping windscreens where the sunroof is almost behind you). So I was thinking, I could get a pop-top one for the ute but I don’t think it would do it justice and then I started thinking about the lines of the ute and how many convertibles have similar lines (looking at the Saab advert on pennant hills rd - it could easily be a ute) So I did some mods on a GMH pictures and came up with the below car - which I think looks OK. Not sure how it would look with ladder racks :spew: and I could only imagine all the posser comments but the clearer sound of the v8 would offset any criticisms. And I could still carry all my building materials and toys just like a normal one. And by the sounds of those A pillars that everyone says are huge, well they provide the strength for the windscreen. Now where's my angle grinder??

Legalities would say no if you wanted to keep the ute lid. In an rear ender accident(oops, even that sounds a bit gay) the ute lid could become a projectile and take your head clean off...
Also, the torsional strength would be compromised and the chassis would roll around like a fat kid in a candy store each time you tried to make the car change direction.

Buy a ute, sit in the back. And you'll still get to look like an idiot. :)
