Just be aware that if you go obviously illegally dark eg 18% you may run into problems with insurance claims, especially if your accident is at night. I had 20% on a previous car and it looked great, but at times I worried about making any insurance claims. Never had to so don't know what would have happened.......
With the SSV I got the darkest legal tint done in Midnight Express and depending on conditions and angles it can look quite dark. I did bite the bullet and go for 18% on the back window.

Yep, that's definately a good point. Very important to be aware of the legal ramifications regarding insurance and the police as you can easily get defected.
Personally, i have 8% on all the windows and 5% on the rear window. Very dark, have no hope of seeing inside but i can see outside during the day perfectly. At night it's a bit harder so i usually drive at night with my front windows down.
Looks awesome though, and i'v been through countless booze buses, been defected for ride hight, exhaust volume, but never for the tint, and i'v had one insurance claim go through perfectly.
So it's upto the individual.

I had a smash 3 years ago in my old Ute at night, had 5% all around, insurance had no issue and it was never mentioned,
I have also been defected in the Ute that was to low. Tint never mentioned, Might have been lucky but i don't think the cops enforce it:)

I'v had a number of my mates defected for their tint. So you got lucky.

if u get that shade get 2 layers on the back window 1 darker it makes the sides look darker for no extra cost and if the cops pull u over just peel off the 1st layer thats wat i have done on my car

its been good to see all the posts with the pics of the different tints.
I have 5% sides and back (ute) .. its.. B L A C K !.. looks great, fantastic on hot days, but defintely says 'come book me' anyone can tell a mile away its not legal.
I've been contemplating getting it changed to a more *legal looking* shade.
Thanks for the pics all.

I *think* it was Peter Garden who tinted my VTSS a few years ago. It was dark and it only took 6 months for the cops to find me and put a yellow sticker on it. They had a light gauge thingo in the car which measured it at 6.7%
I pulled the tint off on Friday morning, cleared the pits in the afternoon and had it re-tinted (15%) by lunchtime the following day.
Since then my cars have all had ~20% tint and sunroofs. When the cops are nearby I simply open the sunroof which lights up the interior of the car making the dark tint unnoticable :)

Guy at work last week was questioned by police at a service station.
He was getting fuel when the cops pulled in to get a drink.
The passenger got out and said they were going to do a blitz on tint in Perth and asked if he could check his.(like hes gona say no)
He checked it and said it was illegal (15% i think) but let him go and said next time his game is up.
Mate shat himself all the way home (was only a crappy euro car)

Tint-A-Car are a franchise so the quality of workmanship you get varies from place to place. I've had 2 cars done by my local Tint-A-Car (who will seemingly almost always give a good discount on their RRP if you ask and I assume most would do the same) and have been very happy with the workmanship and result!
I'd steer clear on the Tint Profuktor - there was a thread a while ago on them and from memory many people were not happy with the job. No respect for your car. :( Do a :search: on Tint Professor.....

Just had my SS ute & the wife's VE omega tinted at Premier Tint in Mitcham, it's the 5th & 6th cars I've had tinted there. Great job at a great price, had the ute tinted at 20% side windows and the rest at 5%, nice and dark, just the way I like it..

I had 10 Grade on my side window and 5 grade on the rear on my statesman. I did the same with cops and my sunroof. Got followed on the freeway (day time) once by DD's and put 3 of the 4 windows down and my sunroof open. They pulled me over and had a close look at the rear drivers that i left up and asked if it was legal, i said yeah its midnight express from tintacar.... he said ok... and then moved onto my 20s and right height... luck he let me off.. :)

Dent Wizard: howd you manage to get someone to do the windscreen? whenever i have ever asked, they dont hesitate to turn it down... apparently highly illeagle, and obvious.
