G'day,
Just fitted a CAI to my VE SSV ute and am rapt with the results.
But between enjoying the new throaty intake growl note I started to wonder..... Will this affect my warranty?
I have the 3K service coming up and was wondering:
- Will this void the Holden 3 year warranty?
- Will this void the Preston Motors extended 175K warranty?
- Will this void my insurance if I have a stack?
Perhaps I should bolt on the old air box prior to the service.....
Pretty sure someone on LS1 will have some experience with this dilemma..

warranty will only be void if they can prove that the CAI is a direct result of a failure.....u void warranty on the air intake only
same with exhaust....u void warranty on the exhaust only and if they can prove the exhaust is a direct result of a failure then they wont pay out on the failure...but if its not a direct result of the failure then they should pay out
nothing to worry about IMHO mate.

Hmmm, think you may have done things back to front in your eagerness to get a CAI on. Warranty is always a questionable one as has been answered hundreds of times on here before........
As far as warranty goes Holden's official view, copied and pasted from their website is as follows:
Only Genuine Holden Parts and Accessories and HSVi Enhancements are comprehensively tested by Holden Engineers.
Given this, Holden does not recommend modifying your vehicle from its as built nature using non-Holden approved parts and accessories. Your vehicles integrity, performance and safety may be impaired by modifications using non-Holden approved components. Should you proceed with modifications, your New Vehicle Warranty will not be voided. However, should a problem occur which is attributed to the modifications made, any repairs will not be covered by Holden's New Vehicle Warranty.
However, it primarily depends on the attitude of your dealer to mods. Some are anti mods and will make life difficult if a claim is even remotely likely to be due to a mod, others are really good! Of course the issue for us is that engine and gearbox are the most expensive items in a car and are the ones most likely to be impacted by increases in power, so we do walk a thin line.
As far as insurance goes, my personal view is you should tell them of every mod you do so you don't get any nasty surprises should you ever have to claim. My insurance company knows all my relatively extensive mods.

Thanks for the info guys.
Sounds like it should be sweet.
What engine failures could they attribute to a CAI.....?
Only approx 9Kw power increase....
I have advised my insurance company of my intake mod, as well as exaust, rims etc. They have added it to my policy with no change is premium, and its all good according to them.
Duty Of Disclosure is what it's all about.
Nothing to worry about boxheadute.
Also what Wonky said re warranty...........:)
