Hey Guys,

I am on my 3rd front windscreen sunshade for the SSV (first was too small, second was bigger but pretty much fell apart) I thought this one was working well as its a two piece unit and coves the whole windscreen.

However because of the size and it having to slide down were the dash meets the window, today when I took it off it also pulled up about 15-20cm of the foam/rubber stuff that holden use between the dash/window.:vpo:

Looks like its ripped in a section and just pulled up/across, tired to push it back but its pretty much not going to work, I guess I cant blame it all on the sunshade as it looks like holden have used that yellow glue type stuff which obviously has not been doing its job 100%.

I will get a pic up when I get home, so I have a couple of questions..

1. Given the tight location of this foam/rubber, will holden have to take the whole dash out to replace it?

2. What are you guys using as a sun shade? If anything? Does it work/is it easy?

3. I have seen so many model specific side window shades, but no front window, why dont the companies who make these also accomodate the front windscreen to suit the model perfectly? Or do they, and I just dont know about it?

Not really ranting, just a little niggly thing thats very annoying :(

Cheers Guys,

Josh:jester:

That sounds like a reasonable advice, until you come back to the car and have to deal with the ton of bird sh!t glued onto your paintwork...

I too have been searching in vain for a sunshade for my R8, and its frustrating cause, coming from a WRX, subaru had tailored sunshades for their cars...

I've just got one of those big silver foil-looking fold up ones that I bought for about $20 - it's big enough to cover the windscreen (from the inside) with a bit of width to spare, and has a beach scene on it as well. I can't remember the name of the company but they also do an Aussie flag design and a few others as well. Got it at Autobarn if that helps.

Super Cheap have one near their checkouts for about 20 bucks. It has a suction cap either side at the top and a cut out for the rear view mirror. No size just think it's called a large.

It's not specifically for the VE but is plenty wide enough but cos the VE has such a big screen it doesn't cover the full screen top to bottom there's about a 4 inch gap. The tinted bit at the top of the screen takes care of this if you leave that bit open at the top with the visors down - no prob.

No pretty picture just the silver bubble stuff and works a treat.

I was looking for a larger sun screen too as a 70cm one is too small.

I found at Coventrys Wangara they had a 180cmx80cm one for $6 odd, but they had none in stock.

It is a bit of a worry if the foam trim comes off with a big tucked up sun screen though!

I use the V8 Supercar shade (from Supercheap) that is silver on one side and a cool logo image on the other with 'Live, Ride, Race' or something to that effect. It retains its stiffness pretty well in the heat (a lot of the other ones just go limp on ya) but remember to face the silver side out, reflects more heat that way.

i find you dont need a sunshade on a VE becasue the aircon is so damn good

you get in, turn it to max & recirc and it gets cold fast.

Did you find out if the foam is replacable without removing the instrument panel?
As i understand it, that foam is only for anti rattle&squaek .. you should be fine if you only lost a small amount.. unless it looks unsightly.
