Visited our dealer Barry Bourke today, for a bit of a catch up, with the salesman, Dean Patisson, who sold us the GTO.
Said he had been flat out with HSV E Series sales, & was actually low in stock.
But what he did mention was that they've managed to purchase some VZ LS2 long engines, which are for sale at $5k !
I guess these engines would be available at other dealers too--anybody come across them?--what about you Davo?
Pretty cheap, I reckon, but keeping a spare engine is probably a bit over the top--well I hope it is anyway!
Cheers, Pickles.

Well, there you go--same deal I suppose, but I was told they were VZ engines--but, is there a difference between VZ & VE HSV LS2 "long" engines though?
Cheers, Pickles.

Good point , it would be interesting to know if there were any differences in the LS2's that HSV have used . I remember reading something about the crank sensors on the early ones . (not sure though)

They are HSV VZ 24T Crank Trigger E40 PCM spec engines. Definately not VE.

Yeah, all "direct" were offered them at a set price on a "fair share" basis, but as they are the LS2, and there was only 50 available, they sold out VERY quick! We didn't put in an offer.

Interesting, our local Holden Dealership were trying to flog off Ls2 long motors for $6k to me, has 17 out the back apparently, told me if I got them any sales I'd get a finders fee, I guess for the extra grand they can afford that :D

Most dealers don't bother accepting these offers because most of them have to be sent around the country, which is a bit of a pain for small/mid size dealers, not so for distributor dealers.
PS: They are making a healthy profit at 6K, trust me!

Being VZ would they be the L76 motor Dickie.??

Active fuel management hardware on them??

I saw a Parts mag advertising surplus motors and Auto boxes a while ago. Said limited numbers of stock.
Its a pity they dont do something like Gm Performance and do a ECM, Harness and gearbox for Retro fits.
