Couple of things to ask and ponder
Just about to order a manual SSV when the dealer mentioned his latest stock order form to Holden listing both Calais V International and now a SSV International on the list, with limited dealer quantities of approx 6 of each to dealers stock. Trying to get details of specifications, but the SSV International is only available in three colors, Green, Silver and Black other that and possibly to coincide with Holdens 60th anniversary, no idea.

Question 1: Anyone got details on this
and more importantly given the VE's been around for 2 years,

Question 2: When and if their is going to be a new VF around March or April to try and gazump the Ford release. I'm thinking and hoping Holden won't do the suicidal Ford thing and let the VE hang around for 6 years like the BA-BF. How'd you be, if you bought a BA in 2002 best thing a Ford fanatic could have done, but buy a BF now, disaster as the price drop when the new model is out will be horendous for resale, much like the HQ and that was only 3 years, everybody had one.

Since Denny Mooney said that there was only going to be a six year life span for this current chassis they should bring out the VF in July-August this year and the model after the VF in July-August 2010 then the all new model in 2012.
This will achieve 2 years between models. If the six year life span is correct I think it will be a mistake to wait until 2009 for the VF particularly since there will be a new Falcon this year.
Once the new Falcon is released then the Toyota Aurion & Falcon will have the edge over the Alloytec in Gearbox,Economy & Power.
Holden would not want to leave it to long to at least catch up(5/6 speed auto & Direct injection) as they may lose the momentum they have now.

All of the Calais International info is on the holden website, saw one at the dealers today, it has the 19" Supersport wheels and some other goodies.

Do yo really think the VF is going to be radically different? I'm of the opinion it'll be a slightly updated version of VE.. IMO:)

Ford didn't update the BA/BF to any degree because they spent 500 million updating the disasterous AU, which already cost them several hundred million (plus a huge amount of lost sales!).
Considering that huge spend on BA (plus Territory) basically saved Ford in Australia, but left them with nothing much til Orion, it was probably the better of two options available to them. BF is still competitive, just ageing.

VT-VX didnt look -much- different, But quality wise i think there is a big gap. I think that will be our closest comparison to VE-VF.
No matter how much drive testing Holden does, all the bugs wont come out until the public has their grubby mitts at the wheel.
As VX was with VT, VF will be an all-round more together package in both quality/looks.

Could be just carsalesman talk but the holden dealer told me the ve will remain the same till 2009! no changes.

so its more or less going to be running changes then? i assume that would be the case considering the Ute is only 4-5 months old and the wagon is stil to be released with the current VE look, it would be sensible on a sense to keep the same look for the sake of not making the wagon and ute look dated

Getting back to the original post, does anyone know what will differentiate the SSV International from a normal SSV? Interior colours? 20 inch wheels perhaps?

Are they the 19" Supersport wheels ?
They look much better in the photo's of the International (bloody good actually) than what they show in the options list.
Maybe it's all just angles and lighting.

I heard a rumour (I know, it's probably wrong) that Holden will be ditching the low end 6 for the high output version, and the 4spd auto was finally going to be given the flick...The Alloytec is compatible with direct injection isn't it? I wouldn't mind a direct injection 6L...Mmmmm...Technology....

I'd guess the low output will be dropped, high output will become base, then the direct injected version seen in the Cadillac will become the HO version for SV6 & Calais along with the 6L50 auto.

I like it, light coloured seats and trim but with the dark carpet that won't show up the dirty prints.

Yep they are, i've got the same on my car, they do look to be lighter in colour though.

Tell me about it, I wish this option was available when I ordered my Calais V. As a result I have a very tired set of mats after only 16K. My dealer has looked after me though and ordered a set of the international mats with the onyx carpet and light urban piping at a good price.
