yeh mate thats a stock engine, it made 165rwkw before the blower and exhuast, yeh its maffless now after HP-F tuned it with the blower on it..
its in getting the cooler done now.. hoping for an extra 20rwkw+ after the cooler.. 13 psi is also an option.. i want 300rwkw

hey mate i was going to go a turbo setup on mine already have cam gears exhaust cai so this may suit me more.

whats a ball park figure cost wise if you dont mind me asking?

cheers tom

HSVSIG
16-01-2008, 09:05 PM
turbo would cost more mate, plus i dunno how much boost you could run on a stock motor with the turbo being efficiant. i been told a motor would need to be built.. you would need turbo manifolds so your headers would be useless, along with your cai and cam may not work to well either..

for that money you will get better bang out of a supercharger, but the the other components may break.. etc gearbox diff..

28-01-2008, 03:28 PM
It's looking fantastic mate but you allready know how i feel about this beast.
They feel so much better with the cooler hooked up hey,i reckon 13psi now will have it moving really quick.Just tune it on the safe side there's nothing worse than the initial feeling of blowing your donk to bits and knowing your bank accounts going to be blown to bits too:confused:

HSVSIG
28-01-2008, 03:54 PM
lol yeh so true mate, hopefully 13psi will wake it up enough to not get depressed everytime i go out with a crew of ls1's lol

HSVSIG
05-02-2008, 06:02 PM
Well its finally happened guys, something has given away...
pretty sure its a head gasket.. so time to pull it apart and fix it properly.. good set of head gaskets (kimetics or something lol was gonna use copper but told these are better), upgrade to head studs, while its apart i will do custom grind roller camshaft, valve springs, collets, retainers, 80thou hardened pushrods, double row timing chain, roller rockers, up boost to around 11-12psi and re-tune... was quoted between $3800 and $5000 to have it all done drive in drive out just depending on what condition the heads are in etc
was told that the lifters will not need to be replaced as they are roller and they should still be good.. so hopefully they are coz there expensive little buggers for the rollers lol

PBoB
07-02-2008, 02:09 PM
While you've got it apart mate, you wanna reload the photos cos they appear to be gone  an I was looking forward to seeing it

HSVSIG
08-02-2008, 03:18 PM
im taking it in on monday to find out exactly what the problem is, doing a comp test and a leak down test..

BLN215
09-02-2008, 12:27 PM
Bugger mate thats no good, hopefully for your sake (money wise) its only a gasket. If not atleast you can build a toughy for her and get her going how you really want to.:)

HSVSIG
24-03-2008, 06:40 PM
UPDATE: ok so while it was apart we put in a custom grind crow cam, Double row timing chain, hardened 80thou pushrods, crane double valve springs, crane collets and retainers, crane roller rockers, ARP head studs, Cometic Head Gaskets, heads were machined for teflon valve stem seals, machined for bigger valve springs also a new exedy HD clutch, new gaskets and welsh plugs all through, Romac Harmonic Balancer.. was tuned again at HP-F and made 295.4rwkw in 31degree heat, then had it on the dyno a few days later in 20degree heat and made 316.2rwkw..

macca33
24-03-2008, 06:53 PM

HSVSIG

grantsgto
29-03-2008, 05:30 PM
have you thought about the factry stroker bottom end?
i had a standard vr 215 with a v2 blower made 323rwkw
just some food for thought

who did the work for you?

HSVSIG
29-03-2008, 05:45 PM
pakenham automotive done the work, HP-F tuned it.. made 318rwkw with standard bottom end, but i wanna keep the vt block coz of the factory roller cam set up.. would have to find a 220i vt motor

grantsgto
29-03-2008, 05:53 PM
wow 318 is impressive for a 195!!!!!!

how long did it take to tune it?
are they pricey?
i used another company, i wont name, but they charged like wounded bulls!
