Hi Who watched Richard Hammonds interviews etc with Evel Knievel, what are your thoughts.

He is now 69years old and needs to have oxygen all the time.

Was one of the best entertainers IMHO.

Interesting I must say - I think the guy was a typical American marketing genius..... but at the same time a bit of a fruit loop. Seemed very bitter in his old age..... but in some ways I can understand why.

He seemed like he was an arrogant prick, but then we only saw snippets of his 70 years or so of life in a 1 hour tv show. He did seem very, very bitter though.

Still was very interesting. I never realised that he went to jail. Have the DVD a mate got from the USA with a heap of his jumps and crashes in it. Amazing what he used to do on an old heavy bike.

I thought Evel seemed like an absolute wanker. Too many years of people telling him how good he was obviously went to his head. I don't think Richard Hammond was all that impressed with his actions either.

And then for him to find religion when he was on his death bed hoping that all his wrong doing of the past are forgiven... Whatever... Definitely see him in a different light now.

I did not realise he was dead, and was also surprised that he had done time.

I also thought the RH was let down by the image he had of Evel and what he actually was.

Seemed to me like he was playing games with RH.

Great entertainer, and amazing for wat he achieved back in the day!!! a bit of an arrogant guy tho. But you get that:eyes:

mate i dident think he had crashed that much.Fu#k was i wrong he ate shit more times then he landed any. but give him alot of credit and must have balls of steel to attempt that stuff. how bout when he got in that rocket ......?????? lol :)
