05 Stateman $13,000???

Hi,

A guy down the road has a 05 Statesman 5.7 GEN3. It was an ex wedding car. the car has 315,000km on it. The car looks immaculate but im a little worried about the miliage. He is only asking $13,000 for it. I looked at it and it drives normally, doesnt do anything wrong. I dont think its been thrashed

If I buy it and chuck a MAFLESS tune on it and maybe some headers will it unearth some weak points in the car and lead to failures?

What do we think about

1. Price
2. reliability once modified. (300,000+KM)

there's limo drivers on here that have gone past 500,000k's.

Its bloody cheap at that price. heck you can get a new engine for about $5k I think so you'll still be in front. new engine and if the rest of it is immaculate you'd have a pretty good car there.

My limo business owner I drive for here in Brissie is getting an '06 WL International in silver with the 3.6 and 40km on the clock for $30k - not sure where from.

He looked at ordinary WK/WLs and saw a WK V6 Statesman in blue with 150km on the clock for $19k. My housemate has a S/C WK Statesman in maroon with 19s, Caprice grille, and a few dress up bits valued for a refinance at $12k.

I know that a bne dealer here traded an ex-limo 350km WK with a V6, sunroof and non-dealer history for $13k so an LS1 is a good deal.

Can't wait to put my bum in the Inter....sick of the AU3 Fairlane I'm in now with 502km on the clock :bawl:

As a hire car operator myself I can fairly safely say the k's wouldnt be an issue...

I have a June 2004 WK Grange which has had a mafless tune and 3.7's since day one and is just about to clock 400,000ks. Has not skipped a beat.

Has had: 1 set of cooling fans, 1 radiator, 1 set of 02 sensors. THATS IT!!!

My current car June 2007 HSV Grange is just about to clock 65,000ks and going to Phonsey on Wednesday for the tune and pod box :smilesandbanana:

We service our cars very regularly as they are our income, any issue is attended to asap these cars are our living!!

Have it checked by a good mechanic and a panel shop for any obvious major work. Other than that can you really go wrong for $13K??
