Wife's AH Astra power steering just didn't won't to work the other day, She went shopping and on return fired up car and NO power steer. She S*it herself and called me I got there fired up car and all's good??? Took it to Holden and he tells me he had one the other day doing the same thing so booked it in and they checked all over car and found nothing wrong!! so they are replacing power steering pump which is great, My question is has anyone one else had this problem as not good if cruising on highway, I'd be okay but wife and kids:confused: Its and 05 and the other was 06...Not good...

Woah man bold makes a statement alright...

Couldn't be caused by a blocked line or smething? What sort of pressure do power steering systems run at?

I knew of that happening in Astras with the electric power steering - wierd and unexplainable other than an interupption of power supply

Yeah thats what the Holden guy said as the power steer is both hydrulic and electric it's hard to work out so they just replace the whole power steering pump to be safe..:)

Thanks Peter..

The previous TS Astra model had some issues in this area. They had 3 different systems fitted, TRW Generation 1, Gen 2 and Delphi.
AH use a slightly different system, with gen 2 TRW and Delphi the two suppliers, but there has been very few issues with the AH systems.
Sounds like they have done about all they could in the circumstances.

I should correct myself. One of the two above should have been ZF brand, but I can't remember today which one the other one was.
